Welcome to the world of the Paranormal! If you’re new here, this is the place where I chat
about the
latest and greatest releases in the Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy genre. No, wait!
Before
you leave thinking that we only talk about vampires that sparkle in the sun, you’re wrong.
Paranormal
Romance isn’t all just about angst and blood. There’s a lighter side to it as well. A side
that I often
turn to whenever I’ve had enough of really emotional stories and I want something
lighthearted
and fun.
Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy are often seen as epic stories that involve so many
different
things. There’s the worldbuilding, the complex characters, the politics and rising
conflict. They’re
often stories that take longer to read and require more concentration, as you have to read
the series
in order to keep up with it.
However, there are some series that take the lighter approach and make humor the main
component.
These stories aren’t often talked about as much and I’m not sure why. They are just as
compelling
and riveting as their more serious counterparts.
So I decided that I wanted to shed some light on these authors and series to allow them
their chance
to show readers what they’ve got!
Wicked and sexy, this paranormal romance will no doubt
make
you fall in love!
About:
In the wickedly funny spirit of bestselling authors Kerrelyn Sparks and Molly Harper,
this sexy
paranormal romance features an estate broker and a 600-year-old vampire out for revenge.
Lindsey Hughes loves antiques and couldn’t be happier to make a living in the estate sale
business.
But when her assistant accidentally buys an entire estate without her approval, Lindsey is
forced to
clean up the mess herself.
Lindsey travels to the newly purchased, age-old house in Venice, Italy, and soon discovers
more than
she (never) bargained for. While digging through the hoarder’s trove that fills every
floor, she finds a
secret staircase behind a wall that leads to a strange coffin…with an even stranger
inhabitant.
Vampire Rand FitzWulf has been in his coffin for 600 years. But now that he’s awake, he’s
ravenous,
and there’s a delicious-smelling woman with a rare blood type in his basement. Luckily,
Lindsey has
more to offer than blood: she agrees to travel throughout Europe with Rand to help him get
revenge
on the one who turned him. But as the unlikely pair grows closer, will the billionaire
vampire be
overtaken by his thirst for blood—or his thirst for love?
Cassie gets herself into a whole lot of trouble and this
latest
installment just might be her most difficult challenge yet!
About: You’d
think that
being chief seer for the supernatural world would come with a few perks. But as Cassie
Palmer has
learned, being Pythia doesn’t mean you don’t have to do things the hard way. That’s why she
finds
herself on a rescue mission skipping through time—even though she doesn’t entirely
understand her
dimension-bending new power.
Rescuing her friend John Pritkin should have been an in- and-out kind of deal, but with the
near-
immortal mage’s soul lost in time, Cassie has to hunt for it through the ages—with
Pritkin’s demon
dad in tow. He’s the only one who can reverse Pritkin’s curse, but with the guardians of
the timeline
dead set on stopping anyone from mucking about, Cassie will have to figure out how to get
her friend
back without ruffling too many feathers—or causing a world-ending paradox or two....
Short and silly, this novella is bound to be the escape
you desire!
About: “Molly
Harper
writes characters you can’t help but fall in love with” (RT Book Reviews), but how did
Andrea and
Dick Cheney fall in love? Join Half-Moon Hollow’s favorite couple for a trip down memory
lane—to a
time when Mr. Wainwright was newly dead, Jane Jameson was a newbie vampire, and a budding
paranormal romance was not yet uncorked…
Half-Moon Hollow’s supernatural social event of the season—Zeb’s Titanic-themed werewolf
wedding
—is coming up, and Dick Cheney (not that Dick Cheney!) needs a date. But Andrea’s had
enough of
clever, handsome, and rakish to last a lifetime, and Dick Cheney is certainly not the sort
of man you
bring home to mom (not that Andrea’s deadist parents are speaking to her ever since she
dropped
out of college and became a blood surrogate.) Shameless, relentless, roguish, with a
Stetson-worthy
swagger, a naughty sparkle in his eyes, and a constant smirk—oh, and fangs—no, Dick is the
last
person (er…vampire) Andrea wants to date.
But the infuriatingly irresistible man who lives quietly on the edge of a criminal
underworld knows
exactly what he wants, and once he surprises Andrea with a thrilling hot and dirty kiss
behind the
paranormal bookshop, she knows what she wants too: Dick. All it takes to ignite their
unconventional
courtship is a near-undeath experience that confronts Dick with a choice between turning
Andrea,
losing her forever, or tapping into his countless shady resources in this hilarious and
heartwarming
enovella that revisits the early days of Molly Harper’s Nice Girls series—one that “makes
me laugh
and laugh” (USA TODAY).
I love when these types of columns come up, because they give readers such as us a choice of such wonderful books to choose from!! This selection is no different. The books that I just read about were so good, that I don't know which one I would pick first!! I've already put them on my TBR list, and they're going to be great selections to break up my reading list when I'm in the middle of a heavy reading rut. Thank you for bringing these great books to our attention, and keep them coming!! (Peggy Roberson 10:48am November 5, 2015)
Thanks so much for the kind words, Peggy! All of them are great so I hope you find something that suits you! (Annie Tegelan 10:43am November 12, 2015)
I enjoy reading all Paranormal romances, along with fantasy, and Urban Fantasies. They are all in their own way very entertaining. Wiether they are amusing, funny, and a laugh out Loud story or an on the edge of your seat, nail biting stories. I've gotten lots of enjoyment reading the stories and sharing the book. I also enjoy the fact that the many of authors have taken the time to try their hand at a different genre from their comfort zone and have come to embrace this unknown area and find that they have a knack for this genre. All, I can say is for all of authors to keep up these GREAT STORIES coming.
