Stephen Templin | FROM RUSSIA WITHOUT LOVE: Movie Production
August 31, 2015
Who could star in and produce FROM RUSSIA WITHOUT LOVE as a film? For fun, here are some of
my choices:
Matt Damon: Chris Paladin (aka Reverend). I think Matt Damon could pull off
the main character Chris, who struggles between his past as a SEAL, his present as
a pastor, and being pulled back into the shadowy world of special ops. Damon
shined in the Bourne film series, and he could shine in this series, too!
Gina Carano: Hannah Andrade (aka Infidel). Physically, I imagined Carano
when I first developed Hannah, the Special Operations Group CIA officer who is a
former mixed martial arts competitor. Also, Carano has the dark hair and eyes that
make it easier for her to blend into Arab populations. In addition, there’s a
pretty side to Carano that Matt Damon, I mean, Chris Paladin is attracted to. As
for the disbelief in God and complexity to Hannah’s character, I don’t know where
all that comes from—she’s still a mystery, even to me!
(Young) Don Rickles: Sonny Cohen (aka Mr. Sunshine). Yes, from Toy Story,
Mr. Potato Head himself. When a Jewish New Yorker—who is a Delta Force operator—
rode naked on a donkey through the night of war torn Syria (in TRIDENT'S FIRST
GLEAMING), only a young Don Rickles came to mind. (He actually played a
soldier with Clint Eastwood in Kelly’s Heroes.) Sonny returns with Chris
and Hannah to fight again in From Russia Without Love.
Liam Neeson: Xander Metaxas. No spoilers here, sorry.
Leonardo DiCaprio: Animus Zacharoff. The Greek terrorist you’ll love to
hate. Or hate to love? Hmm, I better leave it at that.
Christopher Nolan, Director/Screenwriter: If I’m going to have Neeson
(Batman Begins) and DiCaprio (Inception), it makes sense for Christopher Nolan to
direct them again. And I like how he blended both action and character in the Dark
Knight trilogy.
Hans Zimmer, Soundtrack: I have so many tracks from Hans Zimmer and so
little time: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception (hmm, I’m seeing a pattern
here), The Last Samurai, Gladiator, Crimson Tide…

SEAL Team Six veteran Chris Paladin left the Navy to become a pastor, but CIA
spook Hannah Andrade pulls him back into Special Operations Group to locate the
White House Chief of Staff’s kidnapped son-in-law before he is executed by Greek
terrorists. Cantankerous Army Delta Force operator Sonny Cohen reunites with Chris
and Hannah as they race the clock to save the hostage.
In Athens, Chris and his teammates discover that Russia is secretly behind the
kidnapping, part of a murderous plan to attack the flow of natural gas in Europe.
The Cold War has heated up again.
Chris and his crew’s rescue quickly changes into a mission to capture-or-kill a
Russian spy.

I love military fiction. I love the idea of Matt Damon for the starring role. I'd also like you to consider Ben Afflec, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, or even Clint Eastwood's son, if they ask. I'm crossing my fingers & hoping to win. Thanks for the contest. (K'tee Bee 4:33pm August 31, 2015)
