Thank you very much to Fresh Fiction for hosting me today!

I was once told that it helps to envision your characters as people, that it helps to see them moving and interacting. Good advice. So when I started writing BRING ME TO LIFE, I went on a search for who would fit the physical descriptions I had in my head.

And, of course, gotta love Pinterest.

First, the setting. Fall, Ohio. As a native I know how cloudy and just cold and dreary it can get. We have haunted prisons, and while BRING ME TO LIFE takes place in an abandoned school, I’m sure there’s one around. It’s flat enough that it would work well, and there is plenty of farm land for an empty setting.

If BRING ME TO LIFE was made into a movie today, I would fight with all I have to get Arthur Gosse to play Anson. He is exactly how I picture Anson. All he needs is a bit of gray zombie skin, a neck tattoo, and some rough clothes, and tadah!

As for the all important role of Lyric, it has to go to Andreea Diaconu. She has the strong yet soft face, the athletic body that could totally take down zombies, and let’s face it, she and Arthur would be cute together.

Now some of the antagonists. The role of Max, head of the zombies Anson lives with, goes to Tommy Lister. He’s got that mean face, that intimidating build, and honestly, if he was a zombie, I don’t think I’d bother trying to kill him.

Anson’s best friend has to be played by Kal Penn. He has that friendly face, zombie or not. Nice smile, bright eyes. Yeah, I could see Anson getting along with him easily.

And while we’re on the topic of best friends, Lyric meets a girl, Ivory. She’s young, and what better actress than Elle Fanning? Vulnerable, sweet, innocent… I could see her accepting Lyric and helping her understand the zombie farm.

I can’t give away any more of the roles, at least who they are. I do have a Pinterest page with props, clothes, some of the other zombies and captives, and settings. Pinterest is my weakness.

About August Kert

August Kert writes paranormal romances about atypical heroes who’d do anything for their feisty heroines, and unusual love stories you’ll never forget. She lives in northern Ohio where winter never seems to end and summer is nothing but road construction. She married her own prince in 2007. They are the proud parents of a hyperactive dog, a spastic ferret, a lazy rabbit, and a food obsessed cat.

BRING ME TO LIFE

About BRING ME TO LIFE

Plan to survive: befriend a monster. Not in the plan: falling in love with him.

As one of the few humans left alive, Lyric knows a hundred different ways to survive—none of them pretty. Anything to stay out of the “farms” where the not-so-mindless zombies keep humans they eat to prevent themselves from rotting.

But humans have to eat too. While foraging for food, she’s captured and taken to a farm. Her fate seems sealed—until she notices one of the zombies watching her with a different kind of hunger in his eyes.

Anson clings to the hope that he can somehow overcome the disease that turned him into a cannibal. Lyric stirs needs and desires he’s forgotten he had, and her fighting spirit brings back the ragged edge of a past that long ago slipped from his memory.

When Anson offers moments of freedom in exchange for her help, Lyric grabs the chance to survive. She never thought her emotions would cast a very different light on the monster… or that desire would complicate her plan to escape.

Warning: Contains a hopeless romantic zombie trying to find his humanity, and a plucky heroine desperate for a way out—even if it’s down a zombie’s pants. Not for the faint of heart…or the squeamish. Let’s just say kissing is off the menu.

A new book for my TBR list :) Thank you. As for the actors/actresses - some I've seen before and others I haven't but since I haven't read your book yet I can't say if that is how I picture your characters.

her grow up on film.
