While I love the original covers to the Broken Series, it was always a challenge to find stock
photos that fit the look I wanted. I tried to work out a photo shoot with PERFECTLY BROKEN
before it’s release but there wasn’t time. By the time UNFORGIVABLY BROKEN
was ready for a cover, I knew I was better off waiting.
It became an even bigger issue when it came to SILENTLY BROKEN. For those of you who have read the series,
you know that the major cliffhanger at the end of UNFORGIVABLY BROKEN
makes it hard to explain the direction or feel of the final book without giving away too
much.
And then of course, there was the issue of models. I never realized when I wrote Zane as a
blond that finding a male model with hair light enough would become an issue! Of course, we
all see the characters differently in our heads so narrowing down the models was a process.
Lindsey was chosen from the beginning and she is absolutely perfect as Lili. When we
happened upon Tyler, we all agreed we’d found our Zane.
The concept behind the covers is as simple as it is complex. It’s the story in a single
picture. It’s tough to explain the feel you want but I was lucky enough to be able to hire
Golden (aka FuriousFotog) to bring these characters to life.
Being able to be there and participate in the shoot was an amazing experience… As was
sifting through over nine hundred pictures and narrowing it down to four final cover shots.
In the end, I love the story each of these covers tells. I feel like the new covers have
brought the series full circle, and just in time for the release of SILENTLY BROKEN.
Maegan despises writing about herself in the third person. She also hates touting
her accomplishments like she thinks she’s really done anything special…
Now that we got that out of the way, I’ll tell you what you need to know. I was born and
raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I went back to school in my late twenties and studied Stage
Production Technology. I now work full-time in the alterations shop of a major department
store and part-time backstage in the various theatres around the area.
I’ve been an avid reader from a very young age and the top goal on my list of things to
accomplish in my life was to write and publish a book. During the summer of 2013, while
working backstage on The Lion King, I read eleven books in four weeks. I read my first New
Adult book and was introduced to a genre I felt I could totally relate to. The idea for
Perfectly Broken and the character of Lili was born backstage during that time.
