the authors are sharing their best (or worst) summer dating experiences with Fresh Fiction
and giving us a sneak peek into their HOT SUMMER NIGHT story.
Amy Gregory-
Oh lordy. First you have to know I married my high school sweetheart and we were both young,
and he was incredibly shy. We went to the beach by the lake just to sit and talk, people
were still swimming and what not but the sun was going down. I had my legs stretched out and
went to lean back with my hands behind me and I put my palm down on a left behind lit
cigarette. Burned the crap out of myself and needless to say, had to go to his house that
was near and have my now MIL doctor it for me after she'd met me once for about ten minutes.
COMBINING DREAMS
-Drake has had his sights set on Nashville for as long as he could remember, and the only
thing to stand in his was the college education his mother demanded. With it completed, his
uncle arranged for him to sing at the county fair before leaving town. The last thing he
expected was to have his heart stolen by an angel in the front row that hot summer
afternoon.
Bonnie Edwards-
Best & worst date of all time! Picnic (good) and then a stroll into the high grass for
some...well...(really good), only to find we were under the takeoff & landing flight path
for a small airport. (worst) Umm...what to do, what to do. Girls gotta have a sense of
humor...so I waved up at the pilot. (Best because I married my date.)
SLOW HAND
A short story that quickly builds up and brings the heat, Tara (Aphrodite) and Zack (Adonis)
meet when both have been let down by their significant others. Passion hotter than the
blazing sun leads them to some delightfully steamy encounters, on the shores of San Diego.
Will their obsession with one another lead to more, or will it only be a summer fling?
Calinda B-
Early online dating landed me a sexy, curly, blonde haired guy with a sweet cherry ride. We
talked on the phone a lot - lots of chemistry. Finally, on the day before the date, he said
- "Don't let me do this - don't let me talk to you, see you, meet you - I'm a sex addict
who's lost every job I ever had for screwing the boss' secretary, daughter, whatever...."
APHRODITE: Book 1in an Erotic Military Romance
- A short story that quickly builds up and brings the heat, Tara (Aphrodite) and Zack
(Adonis) meet when both have been let down by their significant others. Passion hotter than
the blazing sun leads them to some delightfully steamy encounters, on the shores of San
Diego. Will their obsession with one another lead to more, or will it only be a summer
fling?
D'Ann Lindun-
When my husband and I were just dating, and he hadn't met my family yet, I took my pop's
truck and trailer to a rodeo. After the event, my now hubs and I parked my truck and went to
get some food in his truck. Dinner and a few *ahem* kisses later, I had to go home.
We couldn't find my truck keys. Anywhere. Hours later, now-hubs took me home. My pop wasn't
thrilled to meet my new BF the wee hours of the morning! But 34 years later, we're still
together, so something must have clicked!
LILY'S SUMMER COWBOY
- Lily Halderman is a widow who doesn't trust love.
Will Wainwright is an Army vet with baggage that he can't shake.
Together, they learn to live again.
DeAnna Cameron-
It was a hot, summer night at the local annual fair, filled with carnival rides, overpriced
beer, and lots of fun. The guy my friend was dating also brought a friend, so she brought
me. His friend and I hit it off immediately, and we've been in love ever since.
DANCE WITH ME
- Ambitious belly dancer Melanie wants one thing in life: a coveted spot on the Belly Dance
Divas' next world tour. Then she meets sexy Taz Roman, the group's superstar drummer, and it
changes everything.
Diana Duncan-
Worst: The guy who took me fishing in a creek deep in the woods. My idea of roughing it is a
hotel without room service. Best: I ended up marrying that guy!
DEAL WITH THE DEVIL
- Paradise for software designer Cynthia Wagner means uninterrupted solitude to invent a
brilliant video game, and save her job. But renovations on her city apartment force her to
seek refuge in a temporary rental in the ‘burbs. The promised Paradise morphs into Purgatory
when she meets her new neighbor, a deliciously tempting Irish rogue sporting a wicked grin
and to-die-for body. Rory Devlin is a dangerous distraction—and he’s hiding a naughty
secret.
Elizabeth Rose-
My worst summer date: The first time I let my husband talk me into going on a sail boat in
Lake Michigan. First off, I'm not a swimmer and afraid of water. The boat's motor wouldn't
start and we had to use sails only. Well, it was so windy the boat tilted and the sails
touched the water on one side and I had to duck from the boom swinging around so I wasn't
knocked out cold - yep relaxing and romantic.
SAVING SIMON
- SAVING SIMON - Book 5 of the Tarnished Saints Series is about Simon Taylor, an ex-navy
officer and also Safety Officer of a cruise ship. He saves Piper Westbrook's life when she
falls off the ship, only to find out the woman is trying to close down the marina in his
hometown. The Taylor Twelve are sons of a preacher but far from saints - they are nothing
but trouble!
J. C. Makk-
Spending one summer in Europe, I was totally confident in speaking Italian. That is, until
my mispronunciation of one word caused me to say enema instead of blackboard. I was beyond
embarrassed. It's a summer moment I will never forget.
ROYAL SUMMER
All princes are toads...
Until you kiss the right one...
Anti-monarchist Willow Forbes is determined to revise her strategy after failing to depose
the king responsible for her father's death. But when she retreats to a seaside cottage and
mistakes the dashing Jaxon Baine, Duke of Summerton, for the local handyman, the sexy royal
puts a serious kink in Willow's political and personal plans.
Jacquie Biggar-
My DH (darling hubby) drove a mud truck many years ago, and invited me out on what was
supposed to be a short trip to see some gorgeous Alberta countryside. Unfortunately, it had
rained heavily in the area and we ended up stuck in the mud. This was before cell phones. We
had to walk for two days before we were picked up by a passing truck. And there wasn't even
any wine.
THE REBEL'S REDEMPTION
-Annie Campbell has moved on with her life after giving her heart to her once best friend,
Jared Martin, and having him walk away.
When Jared returns home from his time in the military, it's to find out that he's a father.
When an old enemy follows and causes mayhem in the small town, can Jared overcome the odds
to protect the woman he’s always loved and the child he never knew, or will it be too late?
Jami Davenport-
I've been married so long, I don't remember. LOL.
CRASHING THE BOARDS
-A professional party crasher needs to win over a reluctant party guest before her career
crashed and burns.
Jenna Allen-
Books and movies have some great ideas for fun dates, only sometimes fiction is better than
reality. Skinny dipping is fun, but let's just say water is not a lubricant!
DESIRE RENEWED
-Erotica isn't just for singles anymore. Whether making love in a honeymoon suite, a quickie
on the kitchen counter, or skinny dipping - husbands and wives have great sex lives! Desire
Renewed peeks inside one sweltering night in a neighborhood just like yours.
Kiru Taye-
My husband planned a surprise trip for both of us before we got married I didn't know where
we were going except that I should bring my passport along. We ended up in Rome for a
fabulous weekend.
SECRETS
-Keeping Secrets is a feel-good, sensual romance full of secrets and twists that will keep a
reader gripped till the end. Will love prevail?
Liz Matis-
My favorite summer dates are when my husband and I go to the drive-in! Starlit skies,
movies, snuggling, and cheese fries! Perfect.
LLOVE BY DESIGN
-A HGTV meets Sex and the City romp! Will the foundation that Victoria and Russ built
withstand the final reveal?
Lynda Bailey-
My best summer date was also my worst when I went rock climbing with some friends, including
the guy I was dating at the time. About ten miles from the nearest road, I decided to fall
ten feet and dislocate my shoulder... The good part was while hopped up pain killers I moved
in with my date and haven't left - not even after thirty + years.
KIRA
-What's a disowned rich girl to do when her spanking urges aren't met? Why, blackmail a
former boxer into providing her some relief of course!
Maggie Adams-
A few weeks before my 16th birthday, some friends and I went to the church picnic. We met up
with some boys (of course), and one of them was my not so secret crush. My friends played
matchmaker and pretty soon, they disappeared leaving us alone. We walked and talked, and
then he pushed me up against a brick wall. I was nervous and blurted out, "We can't do this
here! People will see!" He leaned in and smiled. "Let's give them something to talk about"
Then he kissed me like there was no tomorrow. We've been married for 30 years.
WHISTLIN' DIXIE
-In Whistlin' Dixie, Mac Coalson is a man on a mission to catch the vandals destroying his
newly constructed homes, but when one of the vandals is the brother of the new kindergarten
teacher, his head and his heart are at war. Dixie Harris is determined to prove him wrong,
and even though teaming up with this stubborn alpha makes her weak in the knees, she'll go
to any lengths to find justice for her brother. Problem is, when the two get together,
sparks fly in passion and anger, and it takes the whole town to get them back together.
Rae Lori-
My worst summer date started out pretty good with a fun night at the movies but ended in
disaster when the guy bought two jars of baby food for dinner (yes, you read that right). I
promptly took my exit, forgot his name and lost his number after that. Regrets: zero.
RIO SUNRISE
-Photographer Jayla Mitchelson gets the job of a lifetime in Rio De Janeiro after meeting
her newest client, the mysterious yet handsome business tycoon Eric Jansen. With his
investment on the line, he offers her another job: pretend to be engaged for the sake of the
deal. Soon, the line between reality and pretend blurs and neither Jayla or Eric may be able
to leave when the deal is over.
Sandra Sookoo-
I don't know that I really have a worst summer date story. My best is anyplace I'm with my
husband. Every outing with him is the best in my book.
OPERATION WEDDING CRASH
-Have you ever wanted to get back at a horrible boss? Have you ever wished you could
sabotage a wedding? Nora does exactly that, but things don't go exactly as she'd hoped.
Throw in a rekindled romance, and you've got the best summer ever.
Sasha White-
We were at the lake, enjoying the fire late at night (with a few drinks) and decided to go
swimming. Yes, skinny dipping, only when we got to the end of the dock to jump in it smelled
really bad. Thank God we shined the flashlight on the water before jumping in, because there
were a bunch of dead fish floating on the surface!
We'd arrived at dusk, and hadn't had a chance to really look at the water before that, so we
hadn't known. Still, to the day don't know why it was like that, but it definitely killed
any sexy vibes. LOL
WATCH ME
-Marriage, even when you're deeply in love, is not always easy, and my story shows that.
Watch Me is about a married woman who is feeling a little unattractive and lonely because
her husband s working a lot. During a heat wave she finds a new way to get a thrill and make
herself feel attractive again. There's no cheating, and the ending is a happy, more secure
marriage, but it's a rollercoaster to get there.
Terry Spear-
This was actually our honeymoon, and we were in the US Virgin Islands, idyllic, shower that
opened out to the sea (which you'll see in some of my books), off-season, so virtually
private swimming pool, crocheted bikini. Perfect. Until I got sunburned all over from
snorkeling and swimming--not great for a honeymoon.
EXCHANGING GROOMS
-Lisa Robbins has one mission in mind–sell back her UNUSED wedding dress to the wedding
shop, but when she has no success, maybe she’s going about this all wrong. Peter Crawford is
intrigued by the woman who has somehow hooked Dallas’s most eligible confirmed bachelor,
Pembrooke Hastings, Peter’s staunchest enemy. But when Peter takes an interest in her, she’s
wondering just what to do about Dallas’s most eligible confirmed bachelor number two, when
he just won’t take no for an answer.
Theresa Troutman-
My best summer date was going to month long trip to Australia and renting a car to drive
around the country!
My worst summer date was spending the day at the beach for a concert and forgetting
sunblock. I was red as a lobster, due to sunburn and couldn't sleep that night it hurt so
bad!
MY SECRET SUMMER
-Dylan helps Caitlin deal with her grief and awakens her sexuality. Somehow these two
misfits strike up a friendship and fall in love, while trying to keep their relationship a
secret from Caitlin’s parents.
