I'm Tara Oakes, an authoress, a reader, and a fan of so many other writers. I
have
several series and a collection of 8 published books and 2 new ones on the way
for
summer. I try to cover several different genres, because I think like most
readers... I like a little variety when I'm reading. So... why not when I'm
writing, too?
One of my series, My Soul to Wake, is a paranormal romance/historical
fiction little ditty that has been getting rave reviews from fans and blogs
alike.
It was a dream come true to write, as the story of Will and Leah started to play
out in my head over ten years ago on my very first trip to Salem, Massachusettes.
The little city is so quaint and beautiful... I really got sucked into the
history
of the town. Needless to say, the trip triggered something in me and I
voraciously
read anything I could on the Salem Witch Trials. The romanticist in me began to
think... what if something else had happened back then? I looked around at all
the
residents and visitors of the sleepy little city and could see that they were all
there for main the same reasons I was.
To learn about and honor what had really happened, but to find some humanness in
all of it... to somehow find something good that could come out of so much
tragedy. For some, it was the rich diversity that brought so many people
together.
For others, it was the freedom for eclectic expression of Wiccan, or religious
freedom. Others still, found beauty in the restored buildings and early Americana
of our young country.
I.... found a love story.
One that jumped from my imagination to the pages of your kindles. For those of
you
that haven't read STAIN, book one in the My Soul to
Wake series yet... here's a little look at how the movie played out in my
head.
Please enjoy STAIN, book one in My Soul to
Wake. I can't wait for you all to see these characters that have come to
mean so much to me.

Witchcraft.
Reincarnation.
True love.
These are the things of legend. Unexplained, some even say impossible… but nonetheless
prevalent in stories and tales from all cultures and in every land from the beginning
of time. What if there’s something to it? What if there is an explanation behind the
mysteries and bedtime stories? Something beyond words?
SALEM, MASSACHUSETTES 1692
She was taken from him in the cruelest way... condemned, sentenced and punished out
of fear of the unknown. How is he supposed to live without her? How can he go on
knowing that in this life, they will never be one again? There's only one thing to
do... only one option that will bring them together again.
SALEM , MASSACHUSETTES TODAY
Leah is taken on a weekend excursion with her best girlfriends to let loose, relax
and have a little fun. What harm is there in a little vacation? It's not like the
legends, the haunted history of the place can scare them away. It's all harmless fun.
Or so she thought.
Something seems familiar about the town. The trees, the winds, the feel of everything.
Her ever present nightmares have become more intense within the limits of the old
historical setting. She's prepared to write off the whole trip as nothing more than a
case of her mind running away with the sensationalized magic here. When she meets a
handsome stranger who's eager to know her in a way no one else can, she begins to think
there just may be something more to this place, something more to him.
Will has been waiting, biding his time, and praying that she'll come back. He's broken
the natural order of things to possibly find her again, weaving their way through the
years until they can be together again. He knows he may never find her, but he can't
risk not trying. This place calls to her, just as it did to him. It will bring her back
home. It will bring her back to him.
What's 300 years when it comes to true love? He's prepared to wait an eternity if he
has to, just to see her, hold her, make her his and to help her remember what was
stolen from them so long ago. He’ll stop at nothing to make her remember who she is,
the power she possesses, and the love they swore to each other.
The city that I fell in love with was Gaitlinburg, Tennessee. Of course, that was before it became over- commercialized like I heard it is now. There were just a few shops up and down one street, which made it cozy, and the people were so lovely!! Now it's a big tourist destination, and I probably wouldn't recognize it!! Your book sounds like it would be a wonderful read as well, since I was in Salem a long time ago as well, and was fascinated by the city and its' past. Stories that take place there always peak my interest. The cover is very well done, too!! Congratulations on what I'm sure will be a big hit!! (Peggy Roberson 8:52am July 6, 2015)
Niagara Falls. I loved the small-town feel, but most of all the grandeur of the Falls; what a majestic sight! (Monique Daoust 10:45am July 6, 2015)
I have two cities I fell in love with Charleston S.C. and Savannah Georgia and one I want to visit is New Orleans. Love the history and feel of those slow southern cities. (Annetta Sweetko 10:45am July 6, 2015)
I think Venice, Italy would be one close to the top but also loved the history and museums of London, England. I never made Salem. Great video. (Leona Olson 10:50am July 6, 2015)
I fell in love with a country! We visited Ireland several years ago and it's the only trip we've taken where I could have happily stayed right where we were. I love your setting of Salem and using the witch trials. I've been fascinated with the witch trials dating back to at least middle school (and that was a long, long time ago LOL!). (Debbie Wiley 10:55am July 6, 2015)
Snowqualmie, Washington, is my #1 choice. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The people are so friendly. The food and shopping are amazing, and it is a short drive to the Pacific ocean. (Bonnie Davis 12:33pm July 6, 2015)
I've fallen in love with London for its history and infinite variety. Every time I visit I see something new to me. (Clare O'Beara 1:00pm July 6, 2015)
I have not travelled too much... but I always loved visiting Delaware. (Colleen Conklin 3:07pm July 6, 2015)
I love Florence and Rome. Ready to go back. (Sherrie Wood 10:38pm July 6, 2015)
I fell in love with Seattle, Washington. Lots of history, great views, good food and a wonderful flower market. (Marilyn Muraski 1:34am July 7, 2015)
I loved Edinburgh in Scotland. It was my favorite city I have been to in the whole world. The people, the castle, the streets. It is so different than the USA. (Denise Austin 2:40pm July 8, 2015)
Fell in love with a tiny village at the base of Count Dracula's Castle in Romania. Went to China and Romania when I was 16 years old with our high school band. Will never forget the beauty and hospitality the villagers showed us while staying in their homes. (Penny Marks 7:06pm July 8, 2015)
Falmouth, Massachusetts is in Cape Cod along with a house we rented 5 minutes from the beach. Don't ask about the mussels, we found them by the rocks and boiled them to death and toughness. Watching the sunset and walking along the beach at night was good. (Alyson Widen 8:23pm July 8, 2015)
Savannah, Georgia! (Amy Morgan 9:09pm July 8, 2015)
