It’s mid- summer and maybe you’ve already taken a vacation, or perhaps if you’re like me
you’re still
wondering whether or not your vacation plans are going to work out. Regardless of
whether you’re planning a
fun, exotic vacation or more of a staycation the budget for the vacation is a concern.
Where is the money
going to come from? What sacrifice will you make to have a great time whether on your
dream trip or closer to
home.
For myself and several of my friends we’ve turned our book buying obsession into a
library borrowing obsession
to save money. I don’t know about my friends’ library holds, but I have several best-
sellers I'm waiting to
read. Yes, I have to wait, but if I spent the money to buy them I would probably be
waiting anyway; after all
how many can I read at one time!
I tend to use the library more for my audio book holds than for my print books (as I do
have access to my
review books); however I love the audio selection that the library has to offer and the
ease of transferring
those audios from my computer into my iPod. I’m sure you’re still wondering why you
should use your local
library…You can get ebooks and audios without getting dressed or leaving the comfort of
your home, just like
you can at any big e-retailer, but you’re saving the money that is now part of your
vacation fund!
That being said this summer my audio listening from the library includes :
GREY by E.L. James
GREY
|
Many of my friends can’t believe that I listened to the first three
books, but I figure what
difference does the genre make…a book is a book, and as long as the narrator of the
audio is good I’m happy.
I selected GREY
primarily because I did listen to the first three in the series, and I
tend to be one who
likes to either read a whole series or listen to the whole series.

THE ROSIE PROJECT by Graeme Simsion
THE ROSIE PROJECT
|
I’ve picked THE ROSIE PROJECT because since it was released I’ve heard
much about it. I do have an e-book copy in my massive TBR, but to be able to borrow the
audio from the library means I’ll more than likely get to it faster, and my interest is
peaked for sure!

THE NEXT ACCIDENT by Lisa Gardner
THE NEXT ACCIDENT
|
I’ve picked THE NEXT ACCIDENT because I do like suspense, and I’m late to
the Lisa Gardner party. By doing audios during my long commute I can read a bit faster
than my day-to-day life allows for.

Now that I’ve shared just some of what is on my iPod, from the wonderful thing known as
the public library, I hope I’ve encouraged you to check what your library has to offer.
Should you decide to check it out keep track of how much you’re not spending, and I’m
sure like me you’ll be surprised at how much you can add to your vacation fund and still
have the fun of reading or listening all year long.
