My three best tips for aspiring writers are to study the market, trust your
voice and love what you do!
Try to read widely across genres but also to study the particular publisher or
series she is targeting. There are nuances to each line at Harlequin that an
aspiring author should be aware of in order to fit the story to the series.
While it is important to learn the craft of writing, it is also possible to
kill your natural story telling voice by listening to too many “rules” and
trying to please every contest judge and critique partner. Love what you do,
write what you love and let your personal author voice shine!
