Recently, I saw an article mention that the “wedding season” is coming up soon.
I personally had no idea weddings had their own prime time season, but the more
I thought about the summer flowers and potential for tropical honeymoons, it
started to make sense. The handful of weddings I’ve attended have all been in
the middle of humid Tennessee summers, and I spent the majority of the time
hoping for an air conditioned reception and ice cream for a dessert.
In romance novels, weddings are far from the simple experiences I’ve had in the
audience. Romance stories use weddings in so many interesting and fun ways,
whether it’s highlighting a hookup experience, bringing in a runaway bride, or
the ever delightful ending with a wedding. Below are three novels that make the
most of a wedding or a potential marriage, ranging from a fake fiancé, a jilted
bride, and a runaway to-be-wife.
About:
The highly anticipated third novel in the Searching For series from Jennifer
Probst, “one of the most exciting breakout novelists” (USA TODAY), featuring a
runaway bride and the man who wants to be more than just her best friend…
Genevieve MacKenzie has her life completely under control. About to wed the
charming Chief doctor at the local hospital, she’s an up-and-coming surgeon with
everything she could ever want. Until an escape through the church window on the
day of her wedding sends her life into a tailspin…and flings her right into her
best friend’s arms.
When Wolfe catches his best friend falling out a window on her wedding day, he
doesn’t ask questions. He whisks her away, determined to watch over her and
discover the truth behind her desperate escape. But when his feelings turn more
than platonic, he realizes he may risk his most important relationship in order
to protect his damaged heart, and the woman he loves.
Can Genevieve and Wolfe’s friendship turn into something deeper—or is it already
too late for true love?
About: A
jilted bride meets a superstar baseball player in this newest Stardust, Texas
novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Wilde
Just uttering the word "wedding" makes Jodi Carlyle break out into a cold sweat.
So a year after she'd been dumped at the altar, and two days after turning the
big 3-0, she decides to break some rules—by dressing to the nines, hiring a
limo,and crashing a swanky wedding . . .
. . . Where she catches the eye of the Dallas Gunslingers' new star hitter Jake
Coronnado. He's hot. He's sexy. He sticks by her side all evening. He's the
perfect fling. After a wild weekend, where they do everything and then some,
Jodi thinks she'll never have to see him again . . . hey, she's even told him
her name is Gwendolyn! But she thinks wrong.
Because guess who's the best man at Jodi's sister's wedding? And guess who's
still as seductive as ever? And guess who's determined to turn their one-night
fling into happily-ever-after?
About:
I'm just the messenger. Please, don't kill me. . .
Don't hate me because I'm psychic. . .everybody else already does. My name's
Clair Ivers and these days my "gift" seems more like a booby prize. It all
started when this crazy woman tried to bribe me into skewing a reading to warm
her future sister-in-law's cold feet. Then the prospective sister-in-law
threatened to kill herself at the altar if I didn't give her a phony reading
saying she should break off the engagement. Oh, and did I mention she ran out,
leaving her three-carat rock of a ring right there on my table?
So what's an honest woman to do? Find the man who belongs to the ring, of
course. And boy, have I found him. The minute I lay eyes on Jack Heron, I know
he's the one. . .for me, that is. The problem is making him realize it once he
finds out that I may be responsible for the flight of his fiancée. At least his
grandmother likes me. Of course she thinks I'm someone else. And then there's
the best man who keeps calling me for dates. . .and stock tips.
Between the people who think I'm someone else, the people who wish I were, and
the people who just want a bead on the winning Powerball numbers, I'm seriously
considering packing in my deck for good. But not until I throw caution to the
wind and make a play for my very own Jack of Hearts. . .
This is a great selection of books to read this time of year!! I'm familiar with one of the three, but will have to check them all out. They'll make a great contribution for my list of Spring / Summer reading!! Thank you for letting us know about these books. (Peggy Roberson 2:29pm May 17, 2015)
