Confession: I like my television like I like my romance, a little quirky and whole lot of fun. Campy special effects, In-jokes, snappy dialogue, problems that are easily solved in an hour and may or may not take some otherworldly help? COUNT ME IN! Here are 5 of my favorite campy shows:

The Middleman—a one-season ABC Family wonder with a “fixer” (who resembled a Canadian Mountie), a snarky youngster/artist with “fixing” abilities, and kooky happenings.

The Librarians—the rise of the bookworm! I will watch for Christian Kane. Forever and ever. The End.

Eureka—in-jokes, one-liners, weird happenings all due to science and a hot sheriff who plays the ultimate straight man to bring out the comedy? I miss it.

Buffy—nobody’s better with a witty retort and I’m a fan of this librarian, too (Hello, Giles).

Warehouse 13—an ancient repository of powerful artifacts and the agents who protect the world from them. For my money, I would have watched all Claudia and Artie show all the time, but Myka and Pete were okay, too.

To get my new Titan Pawn series, take Warehouse 13, dump in some Leverage (well, hello, Christian Kane, we meet again), and sprinkle some Greek gods in for spice. In GREEK GODS BEARING GIFTS, the thieves are in charge of protecting Hermes’ very special vault of relics, cleverly disguised in the backroom of a pawnshop nestled under the Hollywood sign. Add in ex-lovers, the thief and the man who put her in prison, and a mission to steal a necklace, and I hope you have a very good time!

About GREEK GODS BEARING GIFTS

A thief. A cop. A Greek god’s pawn shop.

Liberty Smith is certain putting two thieves in charge of a pawn shop is a terrible idea, even in Olympic View, tourist attraction and home to some people with unusual skills. Fresh out of prison, Liberty’s ready to go straight, all the way to Omaha if necessary, and take her baby brother Frank with her. Organizing the junk passing for inventory at Titan Pawn and the employees who aren’t all what they seem was never part of the plan.

Justin Barrett is a fine cop, just like his father before him. His only weak spot? The girl he put in prison who now has blood on her hands. Literally. To save pain-in-the-neck Frank and free Liberty to leave Olympic View, Justin joins a very strange mission. To 1983. With an odd watch and Liberty in the shortest red dress it’s been his pleasure to see.

GREEK GODS BEARING GIFTS is reunion-story, sexy paranormal romance (75,000 words) featuring the charming god of thieves, two people who never stopped loving, and the underworld’s all-you-can-eat rib buffet.

About Cheryl Harper

Whether she’s writing, reading, or checking the items off of her daily to-do list, small-town girl Cheryl Harper loves her romance mixed with a little laughter. When she’s not working, you will find her ignoring housework, cursing yard work, and spending way too much time with a television remote in her hand.

Excerpt

Liberty paused in front of the vault door and paced back and forth in small loops. Her first glimpse inside convinced her that this was the one place in the shop that had ever been properly arranged and catalogued, something that appealed to her neatnik soul.

If she ever met the person responsible for this beacon of order, she’d shake his or her hand forcefully.

“What could it hurt to take a looksee?” The wispy memory of Hannah’s warning had been enough to stop her when she was worn out. That caution was way too weak to conquer boredom. Liberty pressed her thumb against the rose in the top right corner of the door.

There was no need to flip on lights. The room was brightly lit, clean, and seemed to be happy to see her.

“You’re losing it, Liberty.” And talking to yourself. Out loud. Again.

Before she took the monumental step, she glanced over her shoulder. Nope, still a mess. So she stepped right into the room. After the disconcerting dizziness settled, she studied the door. Instead of the chaotic jumble of abandoned electronics, all she could see was solid bronze. Her heart pounding as heat swept through her cheeks at the realization she might be locked in and completely vanish without even the rubble of televisions for a clue, she shoved on the door and stepped into the backroom of the pawnshop. Easy.

She braced her hands on her bare thighs and took slow, deep breaths until she could concentrate again. The faint headache and touch of nausea could be side effects of the panic attack or her talent, but she’d come this far. Running scared, this close to the valuables, would be an un-Smith thing to do.

Her thief’s heart pinched at the concept of all that lovely money going unused.

Of course, there were antiquities. She stopped in front of part of a column. It was incomplete but the carvings had her convinced it came from prime Athens real estate. Old-school columns. The placard was printed in Greek, something she’d never learned to read or speak.

But right next to the column that did…something was an Oscar statue, engraved with the name Dwayne Johnson.

Liberty found it not surprising at all that The Rock might be part Greek god.

Re: Cheryl Harper | My Favorite Shows: Quirky and a Whole Lot of Fun

OMG! I have so many favorite shows its hard to name only a
few >.< I guess my current obsessions are Vampire Diaries and
Sons of Anarchy. Plan to marathon a season over the
weekend...Anyways, your book sounds really interesting!
Especially since I just love Greek mythology! XD

I don't watch TV often (or not anymore after college since I don't own one anymore) but my favorite series is still Veronica Mars! I'm so glad the kickstarter was funded and 10 years later, we get a movie (though a new Season would've been better T_T). They had canceled the show before airing Season 4 where Veronica was gonna intern at the FBI.

Due to the farm area where I live, the little bit of TV that
I'm able to watch, if at all, comes from Canada!! Need I
say more!! I have resigned myself, since I've moved here,
to accept the fact that I have to pretty much give up TV,
which hasn't been easy. Anyway, as soon as I started to
read your posting, within the first couple of sentences,
there was a series that came to mind and fit here perfectly.
The name of the series was Moonlighting, and it starred
Cybill Shephard and Bruce Willis. I don't know if you're
familiar with it, but it was snarky, had mystery, and of
course, Romantic undertones to it. I never missed an
episode, and was so sad when it finally went off the air!!
If you can find a way of looking at it on Netflix or
something, it's worth checking out!! Your book sounds
really good as well, and I have it on my TBR list. It's
going to make for a very exciting read, and I'm sure it will
do well for you!! Congratulations on your book!!

Due South was captivating and wonderful.

I could use a book like this right now! Fun and a
distraction from reality!
(Kim Wetmore 12:40pm May 7, 2015)

(Colleen Conklin 1:03pm May 7, 2015)

Laura. Oh! And Forever.
(Rachel Collings 1:07pm May 7, 2015)

Reign, Castle, the Blacklist...

(Sharon Cook 3:50am May 9, 2015)

Sounds like a great read! I can't wait! Outlander and Bones
are missing from your list.
(Sharon Cook 3:52am May 9, 2015)

The Librarians are a good show for me. Only way to get any good tv
where we live is by satalite. Sounds like an interesting story.
Thanks for this opportunity.
(Nancy Luebke 2:08pm May 9, 2015)

Thank you for the chance to win this great giveaway.
(Sharon Sommer 5:43pm May 9, 2015)

Remington Steele and Moonlighting come to mind, but I do so
miss Eureka as well! Longmire doesn't have the snappy
diaglogue, but it is soooo well done. I'm so happy they've
reconsidered and are bringing it back. If you wanted camp,
Farscape was full of camp! And who doesn't love a little Dr.
Who? I'm still mystified as to the reason why writers think a
married couple has no more sexual heat, perhaps Outlander will
teach them otherwise, because I just never got over Sam and
Diane breaking up on Cheers!
(Marcia Berbeza 7:28pm May 9, 2015)

Person of Interest gets better and better every season. I just can't believe how this season ended. You need to watch this from the very first episode.
(Kai Wong 8:43pm May 9, 2015)

Hercules and Xena were sort of fun. I enjoy Outlander and
Bones, but I somehow keep seeing Angel instead.
(Irene Menge 8:51pm May 9, 2015)

I wish so many of the 'old' shows were back on TV . There's not many that I watch now , even the ' family ' shows are not good to watch with small children in the room . All have too much dirty language and sex in them for me . I prefer Dancing With the Stars , The Voice and Americas Got Talent .
(Joan Thrasher 4:13pm May 10, 2015)

Not much of a TV fan. I prefer reading and visualizing my own characters and backdrops. I do like HGTV and some cooking shows though and miss Design Star from HGTV. I always thought it was crazy to have someone try to design a room around something they found in a dollar store with a 3 hour time limit.
(Flora Presley 6:36pm May 10, 2015)

My favorite shows? I like Downton Abbey. But then I also watch Hawaii 50. HA Two different spectrums but I love them both!!!
