Each time you open up a romance novel, you know that there’s a good chance you’ll be falling in love
with the hero. That’s the beauty with the Romance genre; there are so many different heroes to
discover. Whether they are alpha or beta, gay or straight, we all have our favorites that we love to
swoon over and rave about.
My all-time favorite heroes are widely known on the Internet because I’m constantly talking about
them, no matter how many years have passed since I first read the books. Dark and dangerous
characters like Jericho Barrons from Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series and Roarke from J.D. Robb’s
In Death series have always had a place in my heart. Other favorites come from an entirely different
time period like Karen Marie Moning’s Dageus MacKeltar and Diana Gabaldon’s Jamie Fraser. Then of
course there’s the one hero that started my obsession with the romance genre - Rhage from J.R.
Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
All of these heroes bring something different to the genre and are each powerful in their own rights. I
find myself always going back to reread their stories as they are ones I can never get tired of. But
what about the other heroes out there, the tortured ones and the quieter ones? Why aren’t readers
shouting out their love for them?
Well, this week I’ve chosen to give some of these heroes a chance to shine. Some of them will likely
be familiar to you, but maybe don’t get as much attention as they deserve. And why not? It’s time to
spread the love around!
With no question, Laurenston writes some of the most hilarious
books out there. So why aren’t there more people shouting about her heroes? I think anyone who can
handle those firecracker heroines deserves some recognition!
About: Kera Watson
never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging
an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn't for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help,
nobody would even see her die.
In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig "Vig" Rundstrom has never seen anyone
kick ass with quite as much style as Kera. He knows one way to save her life - but she might not like
it. Signing up with the Crows will get Kera a new set of battle buddies: cackling, gossiping,
squabbling, party-hearty women. With wings. So not the Marines.
But Vig can't give up on someone as special as Kera. With a storm of oh-crap magic speeding
straight for L.A., survival will depend on combining their strengths: Kera's discipline, Vig's
loyalty...and the Crows' sheer love of battle. Boy, are they in trouble.
Merging the paranormal with the allure of the historical, Grant
pens some fabulously heroic characters who are loyal, honorable and sexy. What else could a reader
ask for in a hero?
About: That one simple
kiss slayed him as nothing in his very, very long life had ever done. It physically hurt him to release
her and turn his back on everything she offered, but it was for the best.
A KING WHO WALKS IN DARKNESS The Rhys who has existed for centuries is gone. Stripped of his
ability to shift forms, Rhys can no longer embody the majestic, powerful dragon he was at birth. Cut
off from his heritage by one of his own, this Dragon King must remain a man, haunted by demons
who torment his every waking moment. The darkness would swallow him whole...except a woman so
beautiful and haunted becomes the one beam of light in his world...
A DESIRE THAT WILL NOT BE DENIED Lily Ross is taking the first step in building a new life for
herself. Still reeling from a relationship that nearly broke her spirit, Lily is wary of her attraction to
brawny, brooding Rhys. The passion burning so brightly between them is a potent temptation, but
any entanglement is destined to end in disaster. Yet when a spectre from Lily's past threatens their
growing bond, Rhys is forced to choose with his heart, or lose this woman who has become his one
chance at salvation...in Donna Grant's newest Dark Kings novel, Night's Blaze.
You may be surprised to see Ward’s name here especially after
mentioning her earlier, but there are a couple heroes in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series who I
don’t think get enough love as they should. Trez and iAm are two of them. But I’m sure after the book
unleashes, readers will be falling for them too.
About: Two brothers
bound by more than blood discover a conspiracy that will change their destiny in the astonishing all-
new novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, the "frighteningly addictive" (Publishers Weekly) series
by #1 New York Times bestselling author J. R. Ward.
Since my tastes in books are a bit "all over the map" as they say, I'm unable to read everything, and have missed some really good books in the process. This is one genre that I haven't read because it never interested me, but after reading your synopsis of the books, it looks like I've just added some new books to my pile!! Thank you for the suggestions, and I'll be sure to put them on my TBR list. (Peggy Roberson 10:46am March 26, 2015)
I am so thrilled you're willing to try these books out, Peggy! And I hope you end up loving them as much as I do! Enjoy! (Annie Tegelan 11:03am March 26, 2015)
Annie, I started the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning at the beginning of this week. Now I don't want to do anything except read all seven books. I'm on book 5 now. Ah, Jerricho, so wonderfully dark and dangerous. (Jennifer Barnhart 2:43pm March 26, 2015)
Yes! I am so thrilled to meet another addicted reader! KMM's Fever series stands as one of my all-time faves. I find that in rereading them you can find a lot of details and clues that you may have missed the first time around. I definitely enjoy going back to that world. Enjoy the rest of the series, Jennifer! (Annie Tegelan 10:04am March 28, 2015)
Oh the KMM books... a definite MUST READ series! Now I want to reread them just to enjoy them all over again. (Debbie Wiley 5:30pm April 8, 2015)
