With spring temperatures slowly rising, I recently found myself with the
driver’s side window on my car down, hair blowing into the wind for once instead
of against it, with the music blaring out of my car trying to serenade warmer
weather further in. During one particular ballad, because I absolutely crank
sappy and sad ballads up loudly, I began thinking of how much time I spend with
music playing and just how attractive it is to hear a beautiful voice singing a
love song. From Ed Sheeran to Bruno Mars to some of the most hard edge bands,
there is something so irresistible about providing a much needed display of
strength in a vulnerable or nontraditional way that goes beyond physical
displays of muscles and into verses or cords of a song.
Combining that kind of musical sensitivity with swoony book boyfriends is quite
possibly one of the most enjoyable aspects of some romance books. Perhaps,
rockstars or musicians have the modern day attraction equivalent of historical
romance’s rakish dukes; they both often have status and wealth, but beyond that,
they are in a position that rarely lets them lower their guard, making the
romances in which they do open up all the more meaningful.
Here are three book selections featuring musicians, singers, and bands, and the
people they love, served best on a beautiful day with a playlist on in the
background.

About:
Nashville meets New Adult in Neon Dreams, a dramatic, sexy series from
bestselling author Caisey Quinn, about a country band’s rocky road to fame—and
the ambition, dreams, and love of the people who make the music.
Dixie Lark hasn’t had it easy. She lost her parents in an accident when she was
young and grew up in a ramshackle house on a dirt road in Amarillo with her
ailing grandparents and overprotective older brother. Thanks to her grandfather,
Dixie learned to play a mean fiddle, inspired by the sounds of the greats—Johnny
and June, Waylon, and Hank. Her grandfather’s fiddle changed Dixie’s life
forever, giving her an outlet for the turmoil of her broken heart and inspiring
a daring dream.
Ten years later, Dixie and her brother Dallas are creating the music they love
and chasing fame with their hot band, Leaving Amarillo. But Dixie isn’t enjoying
the ride. All she can think about is Gavin, the band’s tattooed, tortured
drummer who she’s loved since they were kids. She knows he feels the connection
between them, but he refuses see her as more than his best friend’s little sister.
Convinced that one night with Gavin will get him out of her system, Dixie
devises a plan. She doesn’t know that her brother has forbidden Gavin from
making a move on her-a promise he swore he’d always keep . . . a promise that
once broken will unexpectedly change the future for Dixie, Gavin and the band.

jealous ends in disaster, Dee turns into the damsel in distress she never wanted
to be. With her carefree world crashing down around her, the last thing she

tries to push him away, he refuses to let her shut him out. Now the girl who
swore she'd never say those three little words must choose between guarding her
heart and losing Joel forever … or falling head over heels for the tattooed rock
star of her dreams.
I haven't read any books of this genre yet, but the books that you chose sound like pretty good picks to try this Spring. I always have music on in the background, regardless of what I'm doing - computer work, knitting, cleaning, reading, or just relaxing, which is rare. I feel that music feeds the soul, and changes your mood. If the right music is on in the background, it can motivate, or relax, depending on what you want to do at the moment. Very seldom do I blast a song in the car, but I will if it's a song that I haven't heard in a long time, and have an attachment to it. I'll be looking forward to reading a new genre this Spring, from the sound of it, not to go off subject. Thank you for the selections!! (Peggy Roberson 10:52am March 19, 2015)
