Sylvia McDaniel's Christmas Cheese Ball

blogfacebookgoodreadstwitter

Welcome to Fresh Fiction's Holiday Potluck! Some of your favorite authors are bringing scrumptious treats to this virtual gathering, and they are even offering their recipes so you can make these goodies at home and share them with friends and family this season. Here is the recipe for Sylvia McDaniel's (author of DEADLY) Cheese Ball, which is perfect for all your yuletide gatherings.

Ingredients:

2 Eight ounces of cream cheese

1 flat can crushed pineapple – well drained

½ cup of bell pepper chopped fine

½ tablespoon of seasoning salt

2 tablespoons of minced onion

1.5 cups of pecans chopped fine

If you like it spicy – add finely chopped well drained jalapenos – gives it a kick

Make certain you drain the pineapple and the jalapenos very well or the ball will not stick together. Mash all the ingredients together and then roll the ball onto the crushed pecans. Prepare the night before to let the spices flavor the cheese.

Thanks for inviting me to the potluck. It’s great to see everyone here and happy holidays. This cheese ball recipe has been in our family for over twenty years and it’s at every holiday event or family get together. It’s a must for a good Superbowl party. We eat it with crackers or celery for those that are dieting. When my grandmother was alive we had to make two versions, one with jalapenos and one without. I wish I could give credit to the cook who created this cheese ball, but my mother was given the recipe at a church function and I learned it from her. I’ve passed it on to friends and now you have it. It’s a simple appetizer that people love and in our family there are never any leftovers. Hope you enjoy!
