Fresh Fiction staff would like to extend a big thank-you to everyone who
came out for this year's Readers & ‘Ritas weekend! Authors and readers: tickets
are now available for our eighth annual Readers &
‘Ritas in 2015, so purchase yours now to reserve your spot.
Fresh Fiction's seventh annual Readers & ‘Ritas gathering hosted over 125 book-lovers
at the intimate Hilton Garden Inn in Allen, Texas the weekend of November 7th
through 9th. Events kicked off on Friday with registration and two fabulous room
parties. As they checked in, attendees breezed in and out of keynote author Julie Ann
Walker’s Motorcycle Club Party and Winnie
Griggs’ Inspirational High Tea, and took their first peeks at the stuffed
goody bags. Things heated up after our pasta dinner that evening with Roz Lee
and Felice
Fox’s Erotica Pajama Party, which featured saucy giveaways and readings from
the hosts as well as Damon Suede, Sidney
Bristol, and Jade Lee.
Saturday was packed with bookish delights, including a full schedule of panels;
a well-stocked book trade room; over forty extravagant raffle baskets up for
bidding, to benefit Plano Family Literacy; a selection of books for purchase
from Barnes & Noble; author-hosted tables and goodies at our scrumptious Tex
Mex lunch; a Q&A session with our sweet and sassy keynote author, Julie Ann
Walker; a Happy-Hour signing featuring all of our guest authors (and our
signature Readers & 'Ritas Margarita); and the annual Hero
Auction and Masquerade Ball. The theme of this year’s ball was Bikers &
Gents, and attendees arrived in leather, buckles, lace, and pearls to dance the
night away and bid on our sexy volunteer Heroes, who—after charming the crowd by
posing for pictures and handing out red roses—earned over one thousand dollars
for Plano Family Literacy.
The weekend ended with flair at our French Quarter Brunch on Sunday morning,
where the last raffle baskets were given away, the goodbyes were said, and
tickets opened up for next year’s Readers & ‘Ritas. Are you too excited to wait a whole
year for more events? We have good news—Fresh Fiction hosts events to bring
authors and readers together all year around. Visit our Meetup page to learn
more about our monthly book clubs, teas, special author visits, and other
special events, and purchase tickets for Readers & ‘Ritas 2015 here! Tickets are also available
for our Adventures in Fiction mass signing in March and for our
annual spring Boas & Tiaras Tea.
