The Duke and Duchess of Bucklynde have gone to the party as their former selves. No longer the ton's elite, they've become a simple seaman and his seamstress wife. Though Radley's added an eyepatch and pirate scowl for good measure!

Wendy Drew has dressed up as a seamstress complete with pins in her skirt and ribbons dangling everywhere. The dress is a mess. It's one she stitched at the height of her courtship with Radley and nothing on it is right. But then that's the point.

On her arm is her husband Radley who has pulled out his own seaman's attire. He wanted to go barefoot and shirtless, but his wife insisted that she couldn't abide filthy feet in their bed. And since is October in London, shirtless seams rather chilly.

Though she does think the knives in his belt are very dashing. And the eye patch would be lovely if he didn't keep lifting it up to ogle the curve of her breast revealed by her badly sewn bodice.

It's odd being in their old clothing before they were suddenly shoved into the most elite of the ton. They thought the attire would fit, but it appears that they've changed since destroying their enemy so many months ago. Even with a mug of grog in his fist, Radley feels like his costume is simply that. A costume put on and off rather than something he'd once lived to the depths of his being. And though he feared being nostalgic about giving up the sea, apparently he likes having a warm bed and a loving wife to hold safe and sound, especially during storms.

As for Wendy, she's feeling equally awkward with pins everywhere. People keep asking her to stitch up the tears in their gowns or fixing a bauble that wasn't attached correctly. It reminds her how much work that life was and how much better it is to sit back and critique all the gowns and know that she needn’t stay up all night working her fingers to the bone. She and Radley have much better things to do at night now.

They sound like a fun pair at a costume party!

I love hearing how a husband is eyeing his wife and not someone else! :)

A seamstress is an awesome idea for a costume!

Interesting how some people ignore the costume and assume that you are
what you wear.

Oh my! I missed the party! So sorry! It sounded like fun!
