Avery's new romance ENEMIES ON TAP (Sweet
Salvation Brewery book 1) has her thinking of opening up a cool treat. Are
you thirsty for romance?
Call it a barley pop. Call it a brew. Call it an adult beverage. Call it
whatever you want but there’s no denying that a frosty cold one can really hit
the spot on a hot summer day. It’s like a romance book in liquid form. What? You
don’t believe me?
Ladies and gentlemen of Romancelandia, let me state my case.
1. Observe the beer’s thick frothy foam. This is the cute meet of a beer. It
tickles you. It wakes up your senses. It draws you in and makes you want more.
2. Hold up your glass and take a big sniff. Is it hoppy or chocolatey or crisp?
A beer’s aroma is its tone, much like a romance book has a tone - be is sassy
and sexy or dark and angst-filled.
3. Now—finally—you can take a sip of the delicious brew. There are lots of
flavors and ingredients that go into making a beer. They should each stand out
and yet work together to create a satisfying whole—just like the characters in a
romance novel. Also, if you put weak, flavorless (AKA boring) ingredients in a
beer then you get lame beer. The same goes for a romance novel.
4. The buzz. You know it. I know it. Whether it’s from the beer or the book, it
lightened your spirit, put a little giddy in your step and made you think happy
endings were just around the corner. Of course, romance novels do not come with
beer goggles—this should be considered a point in the books’ favor.
5. Fall too deep into either your beer or a romance book and you’re likely to
wake up the next morning with a hangover. Of course a book hangover is easier on
your stomach and head. :)
So what say you citizens of Romancelandia? Have you ever gotten drunk on romance?
