Roz Lee | Magic Pixie Dust Moments

facebooktwittergoodreadsbookbubamazonpinterestInstagram

It's that time of year where we wish everyone Peace, but can't seem to find a minute of it for ourselves. The holidays come at us, one after the other, sometimes overlapping as we try to accommodate all our friend's beliefs. No matter which holiday(s) you're celebrating, I wish you all the joy of the season.

Tagging onto the end of this endless stream of holidays is January first – New Year's Day. For me, it's truly the beginning of a new year, as my birthday is the day before. But last year it took on another meaning. January 1, 2010 is the day I officially became a published author. My first book, THE LUST BOAT, hit the virtual shelves that day. It was cause for much celebration at our house. Imagine! Anyone could buy something I'd written! It was a singular moment in time, and one I will never forget. This year, the celebration will be quieter, and I won't be staring at the computer screen (as much) as I was a year ago – agog at seeing my book actually up for sale.

In the last twelve months, I've seen three more books and a novella reach that same published, for sale to the masses, status, and the wonder has not diminished. I still occasionally stare at the buy page for one of my books and think how blessed, and, yes, darned lucky I am. Any writer will tell you that you don't get published if you can't write, and that is true, but I know many talented writers who have yet to cross the threshold into the published world. I know it's not because they aren't worthy, but that the magic pixie dust, or whatever it is that turns the tide, has not fallen upon them yet.

I'm one of the lucky ones. The magic pixie dust showered down on me this past year. I'm luckier still to have people read my books and tell me how much they enjoyed them. In this crazy world, where stress seems to be our constant companion, knowing that I've given someone a few hours of fun with my little stories makes the hours spent at the computer, agonizing over comma placement and word choice, worth it.

As we rush headlong toward the New Year, I hope you find peace and contentment with family and friends. I wish you a New Year filled with showers of pixie dust, and a few quiet moments for yourself along the way. If you find one of those rare moments, grab a book – mine or someone else's – and escape into a world created just for you.

Bon Voyage and Happy New Year!

Roz Lee

Re: Roz Lee | Magic Pixie Dust Moments

My most magic moment was when I met my husband of 49 years.

Whenever a stranger makes a human connection-a student "helped" me across the street with his flashlight when the lights went out on our block. People want to help!

Love reading about everyone's magical pixie dust moments - mine was nearly 28 years ago - my son was born on New Year's Eve, too - due to complications, the doctors weren't holding out hope that he would survive, but VOILA! We're all still here 28 years later!

I have been lucky to have several pixie dust moments: when I met my husband, having both of my children & 6 weeks ago when I started horseback riding lessons that I have wanted to do for my whole life!

I just wanted to tell you that I felt at peace after reading your post today. I have been wanting to read your books, and have you on my TBR list. There are so many magic moments in my life, some would sound silly to you, but hold so much meaning to me. The biggest would be reuniting with the man that I was to marry after a decade of being apart. Another would be seeing a hummingbird up close for the first time where I live, because for a while back, my husband and I were homeless. The hummingbirds are amazing creatures, and I make sure I feed them every spring and summer. There are awards I won back when I was in the orchestra back in High School. So many magic moments, so much to think back on, so much to try and remember. Have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!! I just wish your book wasn't an e-copy. I don't own an e-reader. :(

My most magic moment was when my baby first smiled at me when she was 6 weeks old. It was her first real smile and made me feel so much better even though I was dead tired...

The attitude of gratitude is flowing through your blog. Your success is
yours, pixie dust might have helped with the timing, but you are a very
talented writer. May pixie dust rain upon you and the new year with
many years to come.

Magic moments are everywhere! We walk and talk and greet people new to
us, see a baby smile, watch a child with a pet playing. We read good books
and eat good food. We grow toward our maturity one rich day after another.
We love our families and share experiences, good or bad, knowing we are not
alone. If we are alone we can talk to God to share our joy or sadness and feel
better. May there never be a shortage of "pixie dust" to brighten the world.

i haven't been lucky but i guess when i got my job. because i was out of work for three months..
(Jennifer Beck 3:51pm December 15, 2011)

Too many moments of magic to count. Once hubby and I drove in the dead of night to watch the sun rise somewhere famous on Maui. It was cool. But on the way back, we saw a huge rainbow, and that seemed more magical to us. Sometimes spontaneity wins.

Also, I am reading Roz's latest (not published yet) and there's some magic in there!! Right now, it's called Inside Heat, and I don't want to say more. Just watch for it.

I never thought about magic moments but I guess my nephews and nieces would be mine. Also, all the help my sister has given me in the past few years.

This summer I had the opportunity to meet and spend time with a relative from Hong Kong. She's a lovely college student and I had a great time showing her around the city.

My magic moment was when my children each graduated. I was very proud and appreciated the hard work.

Yes, dear, I agree, I am well over 17 years of age. hehe and I thank you for the wishes of peace. It has been a struggling year. But still, we are blessed and thankful.
I will pick up many books thru the year. And enjoy most of them probably. :-)
