Hello again! Thanks for having me back! I had such fun blogging last time about collections, I’ve been pacing around my office trying to think up another topic that might be as fun. Nothing like a little pressure to motivate...lol.

Well, as I was brainstorming, I realized I reached for my tea about ten times. I adore tea. All sorts, flavors and kinds. So I thought, what are your fun foods? Some people call them comfort foods and I think that term applies well.

My biggest one is the tea. In my kitchen there is an entire cabinet full of tea boxes. It smells really good when you open it up too. There are loose leaf and bags. Fruit tea...I’m sort of on a cranberry kick at the moment, last year it was almond. I’ve got mint growing in my yard that I often add to my tea when it is brewing. My latest thing has been decaffeinated varieties because I drink so much of it, I have to switch to "unleaded" or I can sit still to write!

My Dad was and is a coffee man. I keep coffee in my house for when he drops by. A lesson learned because one night he showed up and I didn’t have a single ground of java anywhere. Oh the shame. It was near Halloween and I had on one of my Victorian dresses. I ended up at the local market...bustle and all...buying coffee.

Isn’t it interesting the beverages we love? To the point that we’re willing to go out of our way to get them? I love tea, fresh brewed, not that stuff flowing from the soda fountain and I will walk the additional mile at Disneyland to get it. Hey, you wouldn’t serve instant coffee…why instant tea? I also have a very good friend who adores Diet Coke and both my sons like Mountain Dew the best. No Sprite for them, they are Mountain Dew men or water, LOL!

I even work this into my writing from time to time. Some of my Highlanders like small beer opposed to ale. They weren’t drinking tea yet in the period of Highland Hellcat but they were making whiskey. My favorite beverage they were making at this time was mulled cider. They would warm it with spices and that must have smelled wonderful on a chilling highland night.

So what is it you love or stock your house with for a friend or relative?

Thanks for having me by and please hop over to my Website...MaryWine.com for excerpts and a look at what I’ve got coming.

HIGHLAND HELLCAT BY MARY WINE...IN STORES OCTOBER 2010

"Hot enough to warm even the coldest Scottish Nights...…" —Publishers Weekly Starred Review of To Conquer a Highlander

He wants a wife he can control... Connor Lindsey is a Highland laird, but his clan’s loyalty is hard won and he takes nothing for granted. He’ll do whatever it takes to find a virtuous wife, even if he has to kidnap her...

She has a spirit that can’t be tamed... Brina Chattan has always defied convention. She sees no reason to be docile now that she’s been captured by a powerful laird and taken to his storm-tossed castle in the Highlands, far from her home.

When a rival laird’s interference nearly tears them apart, Connor discovers that a woman with a wild streak suits him much better than he’d ever imagined...

Re: Mary Wine | Name Your Poison...AKA...Favorite Drink

i love green tea
(April Strength 8:49am October 15, 2010)

My daughter loves mountain dew but what we get in England is nothing like the real stuff in America so she wont drink it here. I love tea - can't start the day without it. I have tried to get my family drinking caffine free coffee but they are not impressed!
(Barbara Hanson 8:54am October 15, 2010)

Coffee, I love it. So much that my doctor told me to cut it down to three cups a day, torture for me. On a work day I can manage it, but on my days off, not so much. I do switch to herbal tea which I enjoy too but it's not got the same kick!
(Diane Sadler 10:39am October 15, 2010)

I love hot tea and usually drink green tea but also drink different berry teas and other varieties. I also drink lots of water and sometimes even drink Sprite.
This sounds like a great book and one I would love to read.
(Brenda Hill 11:09am October 15, 2010)

There are always a few things stocked for friends and relatives that stop by. My poison: Coke Cola. I don't drink many but nothing else will do. Not the competition, diet, store brand, etc. It has to be a Coke. Another is my Keurig ~~ HEAVEN! Of course, I always have on hand more than a handful of choices of coffee. And don't forget the old standbys: Jack, Jim, Crown, and Patron. LOL!
(Cynthia Netherton 11:20am October 15, 2010)

I love a big latte in the morning, but then it's black, English tea the rest of the day for me.

I truely love coffee, good strong and dark. That said there is also a cabinet in my kitchen that is full of all kinds of tea! my daughter prefers good brewed tea but in an emergency we have instant too.
(Elizabeth Parzino 12:53pm October 15, 2010)

I love flavored diet soda... lime, vanilla, cherry, lemon... yum!!!
(Colleen Conklin 1:51pm October 15, 2010)

Coffee. Not too strong, but strong enough to give me that kick that I need to get going. I am also a tea drinker, but coffee wins hands down!
(Joanne Reynolds 1:55pm October 15, 2010)

My house is always stocked with mountain dew. I can't stand coffee but I need lots of caffeine to keep me going & mountain always does the trick...& i love the taste too!
(Amanda Boyer 2:43pm October 15, 2010)

I love coffee and plain water. We have all kinds of tea in the house, too.
(G S Moch 3:25pm October 15, 2010)

Tab!
(Shannon Scott 3:29pm October 15, 2010)

I drink water throughout the day, and keep Diet Rite on hand.
(Maria Munoz 3:48pm October 15, 2010)

I just make sure that there are chips, drinks and pizza. I'll make either cake or cookies.
(Leni Kaye 5:41pm October 15, 2010)

I always have apple juice, orange juice, and peach tea available. Whenever my sisters and brother stop by, the refreshments are always gone. The peach tea is for my Mom. It is her favorite drink whenever she stops by unexpectedly.
(Kai Wong 6:18pm October 15, 2010)

I've got coffee and an espresso maker and lots of tea, herbal and otherwise. Sometimes I have soda, too.
(S Tieh 6:42pm October 15, 2010)

Coco,sodas,coffee and tea,maybe a snack.
(Deb Pelletier 8:36pm October 15, 2010)

I'd have to say that French Vanilla flavored coffees are my weakness. Whether hot or iced, I'll almost always grab one when I'm having a bad day. I even keep French Vanilla coffee grounds in my cupboard for when I feel like brewing at home! My husband can't stand coffee though, not any kind, so we keep a variety of teas at home. His favorites are either Irish Breakfast Tea or Earl Grey.
(Rebecca Dee 10:12pm October 15, 2010)

If it is cold I love Earl Grey tea, espresso or coffee. If it is warm I love water, Coke (NOT Pepsi) and Starbucks passion iced tea! YUM!!
(Michele Powell 10:39pm October 15, 2010)

Definitely coffee. If they could IV drip it in me I'd be so happy.
(Freda Mans-Labianca 12:11pm October 16, 2010)

I drink tea or coffee in the morning, but my favorite beverage is Coke. I'm trying to cut down on soda, but sometimes I just crave an ice cold Coke.
(Jane Cheung 12:14pm October 16, 2010)

I had to laugh when I read about your cupboard filled with all kinds of tea. That's what I have, too. However, in my case there has been virtually no change there withing 15 years or more. I prefer tea to coffee and most other drinks, but...I can't stand drinking anything hot or even warm. Almost everything I drink is cold, but without ice: juices, water, and carbonated drinks.
(Sigrun Schulz 12:30pm October 16, 2010)

The thing I always keep in stock is Jasmine tea. Something about both the scent and the flavor sooths and transports me to a calm that I need after a hard day at work.
(G. Bisbjerg 12:50pm October 16, 2010)

Nothing beats a cuppa. Tea & conversation go hand in hand.
(Mary Preston 3:05am October 16, 2010)

My friends are coffee drinkers, so I try to keep either French Silk or French Roast on hand for them. Me, on the other hand, can't do without my Coke!! I'll have a cup of coffee or two in the morning, but switch to Coke or Iced Tea by mid day.
(Peggy Roberson 8:03am October 16, 2010)

COFFEE! In the mornings and then Iced Tea the rest of the day. My husband is a Mountain Dew drinker so there is always some on hand.
(JoAnn White 8:44am October 16, 2010)

All kinds of herbal and green teas have benefits I like to share including antioxidants, setting mood and pick-me-up.
(Alyson Widen 10:52am October 16, 2010)

I love flavored coffees--strong flavored coffees and sometimes I add some flavored creamer as well.
(Sue Farrell 11:11am October 16, 2010)

I have two Mt. Dew and Coffee,
Just LOVE them.
(Vickie Hightower 11:43am October 16, 2010)

For me it's coffee. I love coffee! I have a regular coffee pot, a coffee grinder and a Keurig machine. I prefer to grind my own beans because it's fresh and of course the smell. For one of my daughters, it's hot chocolate. She drinks a cup before school in the morning and one when she gets home. For my other daughter, milk, which is a good thing. And for my husband, give him anything diet and he'll drink it.
(Kate Mobley 11:55am October 16, 2010)

COFFEE first thing that popped in head but yea I like tea on occasion hot or cold accordind to the weather, that is with my tea or coffee.
(JaneAnn Railey-Clear 2:00pm October 16, 2010)

My husband and I got to know each other over "coffee dates". Forty-five years later, we still love our coffee. French Roast is a stronger brew that we like and an occassional Irish Coffee for special dinners.
(Rosemary Simm 4:16pm October 16, 2010)

Coffee for sure!
(Deborah Lary 6:19pm October 16, 2010)

I used to drink only tea, but after our
son was born, coffee became a
necessity. I still enjoy tea and also
have a full cabinet of it. I keep several
varieties of decaf for my daughters.
Neither one can handle caffeine. I also
make sure I have a rich cocoa mix for
my oldest daughter. She is picky
about her hot chocolate and always
makes it with warm milk.
(Patricia Barraclough 12:14pm October 17, 2010)

Let's see now. I like a little coffee in my cream and sugar, and I like herbal teas, and yes, I too have a cabinet stuffed full of them!

When drinking soda, I'm most definitely a Pepsi girl, especially if I can get my hands on the Pepsi Throwback! Otherwise, my sodas of preference are the Sierra Mist in all three flavours, although I prefer the Ruby Mist version (with extra grapefruit flavour). I can't drink any diet sodas because I'm allergic to the artificial sweeteners, so I just try to keep my soda consumption low.

Hot cocoa, cider (hot, cold, or hard) are also favourites, and though it sounds weird, every once in a while I get this desperate craving for a Nestle's Quik Strawberry flavoured glass of milk, so I keep a canister of the mix in the cabinet with my teas.

Later,

Lynn
(Lynn Rettig 1:57pm October 17, 2010)

I have got to have my coffee every morning. Even better with some cookies.
