Marie Force | In the Hero’s Own Words Comment and Win!
July 3, 2009
I’m so excited to be here today to visit with all of you on Fresh Fiction. I
love the name of this site. As a romance writer, I probably view the “fresh”
part a little differently than some of your other guests. ;-) My new release, Love at
First Flight, out this week, opens in the Baltimore airport when Michael and
Juliana are on their way to visit their significant others in Florida. Both
relationships are beginning to buckle under the strain of the distance, and they
share their worries about what’s waiting for them at the other end of their
trip. After they each endure a disastrous weekend, they meet up again on the
flight home, striking up an unlikely friendship that leads to love. My hero, Michael Maguire, is here today to answer a few questions about the
story. Marie: Hi, Michael, it’s good to see you again. I appreciate you taking
the time to help me promote our book. Michael: My pleasure. Marie: You’ve always been such a nice guy. (I smile at the sheepish
expression on his adorable face.) I have to admit that sometimes I worried about
you being too nice. Michael: How do you mean? Marie: Well, you had a real shazam moment in the airport the first time
you ever saw Juliana. Michael: That’s true. It totally freaked me out, to be honest, because
here I am on my way to my engagement party and suddenly there’s this other woman
who I can’t get out of my head. Marie: That must’ve been hard to handle. Michael: I figured it was due to being so tired and stressed out because
of the trial I was about to prosecute. How else could I explain such a reaction
when I was happily engaged to someone else? Marie: But were you really happy with your fiancée? Michael: I thought I was until I met Juliana and everything changed. It
happened that fast. I just knew, right then and there, that she was “the one”
for me. Crazy, huh? Marie: I think it’s really romantic and sweet. Don’t be embarrassed! It’s
cute. Michael: Um, sure, okay. If you say so. Marie: Juliana didn’t have the same immediate reaction to you, did she? Michael: (chuckling) Not exactly. She took some “convincing,” but her
situation was different than mine. Paige and I had broken up. She and Jeremy
were on a three-month “break,” which meant she didn’t really feel as free as I
did to pursue something new. Marie: But you never gave up. Michael: (shrugs) I love her, and I knew, even when she was still
grappling with her feelings for Jeremy, that she loved me just as much. I
decided to have faith in that and in her. Marie: A lot of guys wouldn’t have stuck around after some of the stuff
she put you through. That’s what I meant before when I said I worried about you
being too nice. Michael: I know. I read your other book, Line of Scrimmage, where Ryan
barges in to make a claim on his soon-to-be ex-wife and blackmails her into
spending their last ten days as Mr. and Mrs. together. That’s not my style. I
could never pull that off. Marie: You prefer the quieter, steadier approach. Michael: (Smiles smugly) It seems to have worked for me. Marie: Don’t say too much. We don’t want to give away the ending. One
last question before I let you get back to work. Are you happy? Michael: I never knew I could be so happy. I have everything I ever
dreamed of and a few things I didn’t even know I wanted. Marie: Aww, you’re such a doll. Thanks for helping me to promote our book on
Fresh Fiction today. Michael: No problem. Don’t forget to tell them about the Book Club
meeting and the giveaways. Marie: To say that you’re usually face first in the law books, you make a
pretty good publicist. Here we go: leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of
Love at First Flight or Line of Scrimmage. Already read Line of Scrimmage? Just
let me know. If you wish to discuss all the rules I broke in Love at First Flight, join
me Monday, July 20, at 7 p.m. EDT on my blog (http://mariesullivanforce.blogspot.com) for a book club
discussion. Warning, there will be spoilers, so make sure you read the book
before the party! I’ll be giving away some great prizes to participants. Come by my website at www.mariesullivanforce.com all this week (through July 7) to
find out how to enter the contest for the Love at First Flight Grand Prize gift
basket. Have a great day!

Would like to read Love at First Flight. Thank you for sharing with us today. (Mari M. 11:51pm July 3, 2009)
It is refreshing to have a nice guy hero. The macho man bit has gotten a bit tiring. It is much better to find out your intended is not the right one before the wedding than after. Good luck with the book. (Patricia Barraclough 12:08pm July 4, 2009)
Can't wait to read it! Happy and safe 4th!! (Martha Lawson 12:16pm July 4, 2009)
I loved the interview. And the idea of two people meeting on a plane and somehow discovering they weren't as well-matched with their intendeds as they had thought is a fascinating plot. I look forward to learning all the details. (Gladys Paradowski 1:00am July 4, 2009)
awesome interview i swear everytime i read about this book i wanna read it more n more (Beverly Gordon 7:32am July 4, 2009)
