Possibilities

It’s been a busy month! Full of lots of work mixed in with plenty of reading. I've been looking forward to a few new books out for the fall. And with all this Twilight excitement, it's refreshing to find something new! The Possibilities of Sainthood byDonna Freitas was a unique blend of religious humor and teenage angst. After the death of her father at age seven, Antonia Lucia began petitioning the Vatican to become to create saints. To make the decisions easier she even volunteered herself as the potential saint.

After years of endless denials, Antonia is starting to give up hope of ever becoming a saint. Her teenage life is even more overwrought with her overprotective Catholic mother. The only thing keeping her sane is her wise humorous grandmother.

There is the always-present romantic thread in the story, not to overpower the central theme of Antonia’s obvious call to sainthood. It is there just enough to round out Antonia’s life as a "normal" teenage girl.

Erratum by Walter Sorrells was an interesting if not confusing read. The main premise of the story begins when Jessica picks up a book entitled Her Lif. The strange thing about this book is that it is all about Jessica. It follows her life from birth, detailing every tiny event up until the moment she began to read the book. What follows is a perplexing serious of events that I still don’t really understand after having finished the book.

Perhaps it takes a better trained mind than mine to sort through this story. While interesting to read, I took nothing away from it. The characters changes at the drop of a hat based on the plot of the story, leaving me nothing to focus on liking in the character. There is the possibility that with the other installments to the story (it is the first in a series) these beginning events will be clear, but for now I am left with a jumbled mess to sort through and understand.

With the possibilities of my sainthood being far off and the probability of my
life being made into a book nil, I will continue reading about others who can
achieve these actions and more!
