Rory O'Leary has little use for his uncle and aunt's stately Irish
manor, which has been his reluctant home since he and his brother were orphaned.
When summoned home for a family wedding, he has a brief, heart-stopping meeting
with Shannon Cahill, a young peasant woman.
When Rory's uncle passes away, his cousin inherits the estate, cutting off all
funds and removing Rory and his brother from the only home they know. Rory feels
his best option is to leave Ireland.
Meanwhile, the Irish potato blight ravishes Shannon and her sister Ainslee's tiny
village. Her ailing parents insist that Shannon and her sister emigrate to
America. The sisters are devastated at leaving their home, and Shannon fears
she'll never again see the man who stole her heart in the rose garden. But God has
other plans. When Rory finds the two sisters huddled on the squalid docks of
County Cork, he leads them all to Scotland...and an adventure they never expected.
