Fiction | Literature and Fiction

People are sick and dying. Rumors are swirling. Some claim chemicals leaking from a manufacturing plant are causing the cancer that's crippling people on the poor side of Trenton City, Ohio. Yet nothing at the plant appears amiss.

The problem remains a mystery until reporter Jack Crittendon's long-time mechanic falls ill and he investigates. Soon Jack becomes engulfed in a smokescreen of lies, setups, greed, and scandal.

The deeper he digs, the more toxic the corruption he uncovers. As he faces off with the big-time players behind the scenes and tries to beat the clock before more people die, he realizes the chillingly unthinkable--he knows too much.

Title caught my attention. This book sounds like it has it all, sounds like a book that once I started reading, not putting it down until the end.

That is a great title it makes me think about all the
situations we put ourselves in that are not healthy because we
have no other alternative or are unaware of the risk.

This is the first I've heard of The Crittendon Files. I'm so fascinated by this subject matter, I'm headed directly on line after this post to find the 1st book of the series. Thanks for sharing!!

The cover of your book looks like any of the industrial towns in the Midwest, and captures the flavor perfectly!! I love stories like this, and it vaguely reminds me of the story Silkwood, although I'm sure that your book is going in a slightly different direction. Since I grew up and still live not that far from where your fictional story is depicted, I can't wait to read your book, to find out how your story unfolds. There isn't a day that goes by where I live, where you read in the local paper that there is some sort of water pollution that has been discovered, or other type of land pollution from a former industry that has been abandoned on a piece of property. With your background, I'm sure this book is going to be part fact, part story, part thriller!! Congratulations!!

Thanks to each of you for dropping in. Just know, I don't read boring books, so
I don't write them, either! I love tension, so that is what you'll find in Poison
Town. Peggy, you're on the right track when you mention SILKWOOD. In fact, my
3rd novel, NOBODY, has been optioned as a motion picture. I can see all of my
novels as movies. You guys are great for dropping in. Hope you win a copy!

Poison Town makes me think of chemical company or a nuclear plant. It evens makes me think of a wastewater plant but this type of plant are usually very responsible. I can't say the same about chemical company or nuclear plant.

Poison Town sounds like a very good edge of your seat type of book and not far from the reality of much of what really is happening all around us today (as many suspected of the fiberglass plant in Ohio). I agree that the cover art for your book is fabulous! I hope your book does well, and I'm going to read your others also.
