Romance

When it's cold outside…

A city girl to her core, Callie MacKintosh doesn't do rugged. She does do her job, however. That's why she's here in this Rocky Mountain town getting more of rugged than she ever wanted. All she has to do is persuade Gabe Jordan to sign over his share of the family land so her boss can develop it.

Too bad the situation is not that simple. Gabe is her boss's estranged brother. And Gabe is the most fascinating man she's ever met. Her focus is severely compromised by his strong, sexy ways. More than that, having spent time on this land, she's no longer convinced a ski resort belongs here. But she thinks she might. Because for the first time, with Gabe, she feels as though she's come home.

Re: In From The Cold

Love the pictures of the dogs and the book sounds so good
(Ava Curtis 2:16am February 3, 2013)

This sounds really good. We don't have snow here in Los Angeles so I never been in the snow like that I wouldn't know what it's like!

What an interesting, exciting journey that must have been! I don't like snow and cold but love animals. Your book sounds really good. :)

Growing up in New York, I enjoyed sledding the most but I love all winter sports. Big Bear Mountain is just a short trip from my home in California and I take my family there often so that they too can enjoy winter sports. They all love snow boarding.

Kathleen Yohanna 3:57am February 3, 2013)

WOW love the pictures but don't know if I could have slept out in the snow, even in a tent. HA Would love to read this book!
(
Bonnie Capuano 6:01am February 3, 2013)

Sounds like a good story, would love to read it.
(
Debra Bechard 6:50am February 3, 2013)

Snowboarding is a lot of fun, but a book in front of the fire sounds good too.

Michelle Donaldson 8:24am February 3, 2013)

Hi everyone, thank you for joining me today. The dogsledding trip was indeed
one of the highlights of my life, especially at a time when I needed a highlight!
It sounds like some of you enjoy winter sports. Penney, if you are dressed for it,
winter sports in the snow can be a blast! We had a great snowfall up here in
Canada just after Christmas and my local sledding hill was packed every day!
Soooo great to see all the children (and some adults!) out enjoying fresh air
instead of spending their holidays in front of the computer or TV.
(
Mary Sullivan 9:20am February 3, 2013)

Kathleen, I'm so glad you are close enough to a mountain in California that your
family can enjoy the snow and the winter sports you grew up with!
(
Mary Sullivan 9:22am February 3, 2013)

Bonnie, our wonderful guides kept a fire going in a stove all night long, so we
weren't cold. I will admit that sleeping in close proximity to so many other
people was strange, though.
(
Mary Sullivan 9:24am February 3, 2013)

The book sounds great. Not sure I would stay in a tent during snow. I'm a warm fire kinda girl.
(
Pam Howell 11:15am February 3, 2013)

No... haven't done it before... but looks like fun!
(
May Pau 12:15pm February 3, 2013)

Enjoyed reading your blog. The only winter sport I enjoyed is reading a good book and yours sounds like a great read.
(
Sheila True 12:20pm February 3, 2013)

Oh I love animals... never went dogsledding... as a kid, I loved sledding down the snow... nowadays, I prefer to curl up with a good book! Thanks for sharing! :)
(
Colleen Conklin 12:34pm February 3, 2013)

thanks for this chance! looks good...
(
Debbi Shaw 1:38pm February 3, 2013)

What a wonderful, exciting life changing experience! I loved your description and pictures. Personally, this southern girl would have difficulty staying in a tent in extreme cold, but I loved to read about it.
(
Anna Speed 2:02pm February 3, 2013)

I don't like the cold so curling up by the fire with a good
book works for me.
(
Gail Hurt 2:58pm February 3, 2013)

.looks...good
(
Kent Cook 3:35pm February 3, 2013)

To all of you commenting that you like to curl up with a good book in the
middle of winter, I'm of the same mind these days. Such a great winter activity!!!

Sleeping in the tent was definitely different, but it was all part of the adventure,
so I'm glad I gave myself over to the experience. These days, though, I like my
creature comforts :-)
(
Mary Sullivan 3:39pm February 3, 2013)

I've ever only gone skiing so I guess that would have to be considered my
favourite. That was ages ago though, much more sedate these days. Hot
chocolate and a good book for me these days.
(
Liesl Lane 3:45pm February 3, 2013)

LOVE GOING SKATING ITS FUN. LOVE TO WIN!!!!
(
Shelly Caggiano 3:49pm February 3, 2013)

Good cover - but the gorgeous dog team would sell it to me! If you have a unique selling point that is what you should use!
I've read dogsledding books but they have always been mysteries such as Murder on the Yukon Quest. Good luck.
(
Clare O'Beara 4:00pm February 3, 2013)

When I was young between the age of 8-16, I loved ice skating and sledding growing up around the bluffs in southern Minnesota. I was used to the cold, cold weather and would be out in it for hours and the fun outweighed the frozen toes! My sisters and our friends used to get dropped off at noon on weekends at the golf course with all its hills to go tobogganing until 5:30 pm on weekends, and we'd see hundreds of kids there. It was a blast for us. Once we went to the top of the steepest hill (with 5 of us on the sled) and came down so fast we couldn't control it, we had to scream for all the kids to get out of the way and kept screaming, we were so scared because we were headed for the creek!! Luckily, we came to a stop right at the edge and learned a lesson not to go down that steep hill ever again (which mostly the skiiers used). I went through many pairs of ice skates over the years, because I lived on the ice. I would skate from early afternoon until late at night...even on school nights. I couldn't get enough of it, because it was my favorite winter sport and the other kids all would watch me skate and were amazed that I was so good at it that I never fell down once, when they were all falling down. What they all didn't know was I had hundreds of hours of experience. My Dad grew up in Saskatchewan, CANADA and told me of the cold and how he and his brother took the sleigh pulled by a horse or just rode the horse to a one-room school house with all grades taught by one teacher. So, I'm sure your adventure was a pretty cold one, but sounds fascinating and fun! These days, I'd rather read a good book during the winter (camping out and dogsledding would have been right up my alley as a teenager for sure)!
(
Linda Luinstra 4:40pm February 3, 2013)

The books looks exciting to read and the dogs look like they are ready go enjoy that snow.
(
Cynthia St. Germain 6:04pm February 3, 2013)

Never dogsledded. Love dogs. Love sledding with toboggans. But no dogsledding, LOL.
Don't spend a lot of time outdoors in the wintertime. Prefer the warmth and comfort of my home - and I get a lot more done in the winter months in the house than I do in the summer, as then I have a lot more company for outdoor barbecues, games of croquet, etc.
(
Elaine Seymour 7:45pm February 3, 2013)

Thank you, everyone, for sharing your stories today of winter fun and winter
pastimes. I enjoyed reading them!
(
Mary Sullivan 8:38pm February 3, 2013)

I've never been dogsledding, but have watched it on tv several times, and admire the stamina of the people who do it. My favorite outside Winter sport is ice skating, although since I suffered an injury quite a few years ago, I feel as though I've been outdoors for hours on end all the time!! It's very hard for me to stay warm, and the thermals, along with heavier socks and wrist warmers, go on in late Summer or Early Fall. I have to settle for watching sports such as these on tv when I can and really get my fix for Winter sports when the Olympics come on. My new sport is to find things to do such as knit or crochet things for friends and family, or just to settle in with a great book (such as yours), along with a cup of hot cocoa and my 2 kittens to help keep me warm. To me, that's pure Heaven!! Congratulations on your latest book. I couldn't think of a better place to write about. I remember writing a school project about Colorado when I was in grade school, many moons ago, and always wanted to see that state. I haven't had the chance as of yet, but still might get the chance to see it someday. Your book is on my TBR list, one way or the other!!
(
Peggy Roberson 9:19pm February 3, 2013)

Visiting a place cold and snowy enough to go dog sledding is a dream of mine. My nephew just got stationed at Eileson AFB in North Pole, Alaska, so I'm dying to get up to visit him and take a try at it.
(
Donna Holmberg 9:29pm February 3, 2013)

I've never been dog sledding, but I loved watching our Siberian husky run and play in the snow.
(
Mary C 10:18pm February 3, 2013)

no dog sledding. We moved from PA to south TX, so I can enjoy the beach year round - and a good book:)
(
Michelle Schafer 10:37pm February 3, 2013)

I've never had the pleasure of dog-sledding. My favorite Winter sport
would be basketball - but I'd rather curl up with a good book!
(
Kelli Jo Calvert 10:51pm February 3, 2013)

I have never been dog-sledding but would love to give it a try
(as a rider). I do love sledding and tubing.
(
Lisa White 12:03pm February 4, 2013)

I would love to go dog-sledding. I love the picture of the dogs. They are excited about something. I wonder if it the snow or is it that they love the great outdoor. Looking forward to reading your book.
(
Kai Wong 12:22pm February 4, 2013)

I was lucky enough to get to ride on a team that ran the Iditarod. I was amazed at how strong and fast they were. It is so much fun.
(
Debbie Penny 6:56am February 4, 2013)

Sounds like a wonderful adventure. I don't think I could go dog-sledding because I hate the cold.
The book sounds great.
(
Rita Wray 9:28am February 4, 2013)

I've never been any where that has winter sports, I'm a
southern girl.
(
Theresa Norris 9:53am February 4, 2013)

I lived in Alaska and now in northern Minnesota---so I do love the cold and yet I've never tried dogsledding. I guess my beagles just wouldn't be interested!!
(
Sue Farrell 10:12am February 4, 2013)

Your books sounds great. As far as winter activities go, I am definitely a book in front of the fire person. I hate the cold these days.
(
Carol Woodruff 11:54am February 4, 2013)

No I have never gone dog sledding. When I was younger I did sledding, tobogganing and ice skating. Now I just like to sit by the fire and read! ;)
(
Sue Galuska 1:47pm February 4, 2013)

I actually don't mind going out for a brisk walk when it's
cold.

I've never gone dog sledding.
