Sarah Webb

Sarah Webb worked in children's bookselling for many years, and now works as a children's book consultant when she's not writing. She lives in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin with her partner, Ben, young son, Sam, and toddler, Amy-Rose.

Her previous adult novels, Three Times a Lady, Always the Bridesmaid, Something to Talk About, Some Kind of Wonderful, and It Had to Be You were Irish bestsellers. Book six, Take a Chance, has just been published and she's currently working on her seventh book - working title ‘When the Boys are Away.’

In her spare time she likes reading - her all-time favourite author is Anne Tyler, going to the cinema (although she's allergic to Hollywood 'blockbusters, especially noisy ones), sailing with her son and partner, and eating out. Although her 'spare' time is rather swallowed up by their old house in Dun Laoghaire which needs some TLC. She has discovered a hidden talent for house painting but unfortunately seems to cover herself as well as the walls on every occasion.

Sarah says her inspiration comes from all kinds of things - daily life, books, daydreams, films, friends, relationships, and the whole world around her. 'I'm like a sponge,' she laughs. 'I soak everything up, I'm eternally curious - I find the smallest, everyday things fascinating. Leaving work (Sarah was the Children's Book Buyer and Marketing Manager in Eason) to write has allowed me the time and space to develop my work and to spend more time just wondering. I'm very privileged to be able to do this and I thank my lucky stars every day.'
