Toni Graeme
Toni Graeme, mother of seven daughters, union president and
supervisor in social services in Vancouver, BC, moved to
Canada's north for ten years. She traveled thousands of
miles in Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut and
came to know, admire and love the people and the land. She
bred Samoyed dogs, cross country skied, raised chickens for
organic eggs and had a bountiful summer garden. Toni was
resource Person for the Yukon Status of Women in 1979, then
moved to Yellowknife, NWT in 1980 to be an employment and
training counselor, in 1984 and was chosen to be the first
Executive Director of the NWT's Women's Secretariat. She
also served seven years as the first woman on the NWT
Apprenticeship Board. She is a world traveler, has worked
for improvements for women all her working life and as a
volunteer. Toni now lives in Victoria, BC and is a writer
and coach for writers wanting to publish.
