Antonio J. Mendez
Antonio Mendez was born in Eureka, Nevada and worked
as a plumber and illustrator before joining the CIA's
technical services staff and ultimately becoming its Chief
of Disguise. He earned the CIA's Intelligence Star of Valor
for his role in engineering the escape of six Americans
from Tehran in 1980. On the fiftieth anniversary of the
CIA, he
was-named one of the fifty a11-time stars of the spy trade
arid was honored with the Trailblazer Award. He retired from
the CIA in 1990.
Jonna Mendez was born in Louisville, Kentucky,
and served for twenty-seven years in the CIA in a variety of
positions, corning aboard as a secretary and advancing to a
technical operations officer. She also served as Chief of
Disguise. She retired in 1993.
Both are consultants for the CBS television series The
Agency, and are board members of the International Spy
