Laura Abbot
She's doing what?" "You're kidding, right?" Laura
Abbot anticipated such reactions from her former high
school English students when they learned she'd left
teaching to become a romance novelist. But little did she
expect to pick up The Sunday Tulsa World and find a
review of her first Superromance® Mating for Life
(April 1995) with the headline "Romance Wasn't on the
Final Exam"! Yes, the article sported the byline of a
former student.
Laura retired from teaching to try her hand at writing
fiction. Now with ten Superromances® to her credit and
more projects in the works, Laura takes satisfaction from
the accomplishment of that goal. Her novels are often set
in regions where she has lived or visited. Best of all,
she enjoys creating characters who become so real to her
that she has trouble giving them up after finishing their
stories.
Born and reared in Kansas City, Laura has spent all her
adult years in the central United States-Kansas, Oklahoma,
and now Arkansas, where she lives with her husband in a
home they built overlooking a beautiful lake nestled in
the Ozark Mountains, an ideal place to entertain her
favorite guests, her grandchildren. A "people person,"
Laura enjoys speaking to civic and writers'' groups. In
quiet moments, you're guaranteed to find her curled up
with a good book.
