Candice Proctor
Pseudonym: C.S. Harris.
Born in South Dakota into an Air Force family, Candice
Proctor grew up exploring the crumbling castles and ancient
villages of Europe, and camping and fishing in the
mountains of Oregon and Idaho. Before becoming a writer,
she worked as an archaeologist and university professor.
She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude with a BA in
Classics, and has an MA and Ph.D. in European history. In
addition to her four novels, she is also the author of a
nonfiction work on women in the French Revolution.
"I like to write about strong women," says Candice. "Women
who sometimes aren't even aware of their own strength but
discover it when tested by life. And I make certain my
heroines end up with the kind of men they deserve--
honorable men, men who can be both gentle and strong, who
never lose their sense of humor and don't feel threatened
by a strong woman." After fourteen years overseas, Candice will now be making
her home in the New Orleans area, where her family has
lived for generations. The mother of two daughters, she
enjoys reading, painting, gardening, and travel, and keeps
fit with swimming, Tae Kwan Do, and Tai Chi.
