Susan Bennett
In her first job, Susan Bennett sold large knives, replica pistols and handcuffs to complete strangers. Many years later, it occurred to her that some of those nice strangers may not have been purchasing these items for joke gifts as they claimed. Maybe they weren't even nice.
Her writing prizes include first place in the EJ Brady Award (twice), the Sydney Writers' Room Short Story Competition, The New England Thunderbolt Prize for crime writing, the Joseph Furphy Prize and Field of Words Short Story Competition, second place in the ESU Roly Sussex Awards (twice) and the Grace Marion Prize. Her stories have also enjoyed high commendations or shortlisting in the Scarlet Stiletto Awards for crime writing, the Albury City Short Story Awards (three times) Ink Tears, the Los Gatos Writers' Festival, The Big Issue and in the Southern Cross Literary Competition. Her work has been published by The Fish Anthology, The Moth, Etchings, The Australian Broadcasting Commission and the Shepparton News, among others.
