One of the fathers of the Scandinavian mystery genre, he wrote 80 novels and a dozen screen plays during his life and is sometimes called “the Danish Agatha Christie.” Rosenkrantz was one of the best-selling authors in early 20th century Scandinavia and Germany and, to this day, the Palle Rosenkrantz Prize is awarded annually to the best crime novel published in Danish.
