Danny Danon
Danny Danon is a Member of the 18th Israeli Knesset, representing the Likud Party. Danon currently serves as the Chairman of the Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Committee in the Knesset, as well as the Chairman of the World Likud Organization. Danon is also the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset. Danon was born in Ramat Gan, Israel on 8 May 1971, to Joseph and Yocheved Danon. He holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in International Relations from Florida International University, as well as a Masters Degree in Public Policy from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Upon completing his military service in the IDF as a Lieutenant, Danon served as a delegate promoting Zionism in Miami, USA. While in the US, Danon worked to counter anti-Israel propaganda and encouraged Jewish people to make Aliyah to Israel. Danon was elected as Chairman of the World Betar Organization. During that time, Danon founded the ‘Our Jerusalem’ organization, which focused on strengthening the bond between Israeli citizens and Jerusalem. Danon was elected Chairman of the World Likud Organization, and began serving as a Member in the Board of Governors of World Zionist Organization. He also became a Member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency. Danon has led a high-profile campaign against former MK Azmi Bishara, who fled Israel after allegations were made regarding his aiding Hezbollah during the Second Lebanese War. Danon filed a petition with the Israeli High Court of Justice calling to revoke Bishara’s Israeli citizenship. In 2009, Danon was elected as a Member of the 18th Israeli Parliament.
