Alan Colmes

Alan Colmes

ne of his first radio exploits was to call the American embassy in Tehran. Shortly after his dialogue with a student named "Z" the U.S. state department banned all calls to Iran.

This type of sharp-sightedness got Alan noticed. After a string of successful radio shows on legendary talk stations such as WABC, WNBC and WMCA in New York, Colmes gained a reputation as a hard-hitting interviewer known for his electric commentary and wit. Colmes has interviewed key political figures on both sides of the issue, including Former President Bill Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Steve Forbes, Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Newt Gingrich, Al Sharpton and Oliver North.

Colmes went from major market success to national talk radio prominence in 1990 as a partner and on-air host for the Daynet radio network. By 1994, his fast-paced and informative afternoon news-driven show aired daily on hundreds of affiliates nationwide. Soon after, in 1996 FOX News Channel CEO Roger Ailes tapped Alan to co-host the channel's nightly primetime debate show "Hannity and Colmes," which is now the second most-watched cable news show and the first-ever program to topple Larry King head-to-head.

In addition to his phenomenal success on cable, Alan's overnight show on the former 1050 AM WEVD in New York was consistently the top-rated radio program on that station until the format switched to sports at the end of 2001.

Currently, Alan is bringing his opinion with style to talk radio as host of the nationally syndicated radio program, "The Alan Colmes Show." As the host of "The Alan Colmes Show," Alan provides listeners with insightful commentary on current issues from around the globe and discusses the hottest topics.

Respected by Democrats and Republicans, his blend of honesty, wit and unpredictability make him one of the most successful, independent-minded hosts in national media today.
