Jon Wiener
Jon Wiener is a contributing editor to The Nation, a professor of history at UC Irvine, and host of an afternoon drive-time show on KPFK, featuring interviews and talk about politics and culture. His latest book, Historians in Trouble: Plagiarism, Fraud, and Politics in the Ivory Tower, examines a dozen history scandals of the last few years and asks why some charges end up on Page 1 and end careers, while others do not. He is also the author of Gimme Some Truth: The John Lennon FBI Files, which recounts his experiences as a plaintiff in a Freedom of Information lawsuit against the FBI. In 1995 his “Murdered Ink: Media Conglomerates Are Censoring Authors” in The Nation was named “The Year’s Best Writing About Writing” by Writers’ Yearbook. His many articles have also appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The New Republic, and the Los Angeles Times.
